This week in Greenrigg…. 2nd November 2015
After a scary bunch of people arriving to party on Wednesday night and gruesome wounds on show on Thursday we are hoping it will all be calm this week at Greenrigg…
On Monday we have assembly at 2.20pm – parents and carers are welcome to attend and we are looking forward to seeing our newest nursery children at their very first assembly.
On Monday evening at 6pm there will an opportunity for parents to take part in the same Child Protection training that our staff (and all WL employees working with children) undertook in August. The training, led by Mrs Berginis, will explain what the school’s role is in helping to keep children safe.
Also on Monday at 7pm we would like to welcome parents and staff to the Parent Teacher Association’s (PTA) Annual General Meeting and then planning for the Christmas Fair. Please come along and find out how you can be involved in helping raise funds for additional resources that are outwith the core school budget.
On Tuesday our P2 children are off to the Museum in Edinburgh – see the BLOG later in the week for photographs of their adventures! They have been studying the dinosaurs and hoping to learn more on their trip.
On Tuesday afternoon P3/4 have their weekly benchball session with Sports Leaders from Whitburn Academy
On Wednesday P7s are off to the Poppy Factory as part of their learning about World War 2.

Life as a Roman Soldier in P 5/4
P 5/4 has had a wonderful day with our Roman visitor. They learned about life as a Roman soldier, how to get into formation like Roman soldiers, march and much, much more. Have a look at our photos to get a taste of our learning experience.
Ask your child what they have learned today.
Keep sharing the learning!!
Nursery Fun
Children have been enjoying their first term in the nursery and we have been making the most of the nice weather and getting outdoors as much as possible. Our newsletter has gone out and we will keep you up to date through the blog, newsletter and notice board of any events happening in the nursery. We have our nursery big book for you to look through in the nursery. You will find pictures and information about what your children enjoy and what they are learning inside the book. Parents are welcome to leave comments as well.
Primary 4/3’s Viking Adventure!
Our topic this term is Vikings. So far we have been discussing what we want to find out about Viking and have used the internet to research Viking long boats. This week we will be creating a fantastic Viking long boat display! Any Viking research done at home can be added to our class floor book too!
Settling into School for P1
A new start, a class, a new teacher and a new environment has been what the children of primary one have had to deal with over the last two weeks. They are all settling in well and over the next few weeks will be learning lots of new things from finding out about themselves and feelings to literacy.
This week during big book time all children got to talk about the things they like about school.
Kimberley says, ” I love it how we get to choose our own choosing activity.”
Brendan loves being the milk monitor and all the children enjoying using the finger gym.
This week the children will be in school for lunch and the afternoon and the P7 buddy’s will be there to support the children.
