P5/6 Growth Mindset

We have been talking about how important it is to be positive and work out our brains.

We watched 2 videos about Mojo who wanted to give up when he found something too hard and when he made mistakes. We found that our brain is a muscle and we need to exercise it and learn from our mistakes.

We’re starting to use phrases to help our minds and brains grow.  We are using “I can’t do it yet” rather than “I can’t do it”.

We’ve created a display with what we can do and what we can’t do yet.image

Netball League

Can you tell by their faces that they did well! We are so proud of the boys and girls in the netball team. At the netball league today they came first! They got a medal each, a cup to keep for the year and a trophy to keep for the school. Josie has also been asked to join the Wildcats Netball team which is a huge achievement.

Well done to the whole team, Mrs Irvine who has been coaching them and a big thank you to Miss Benson who accompanied them today.

The Big Debate

Today pupils in P6/5 and P7 from Greenrigg were joined by pupils in the debating team from Stoneyburn. During the day they were working on different skills linked to debating. In the afternoon a group of pupils participated in a debate for other pupils including pupils in p3/4 who were invited to watch.

The motion of the debate was ‘All children get a free school lunch’. Both sides presented their arguments and then questions were invited from the audience. Overall the proposition won.

The debating team had prepared great speeches to support their side.
