Pupils and staff of Greenrigg Primary School kicked off their Health Week yesterday by participating in a whole school hour long Zumbathon thanks to Joanna Stroud, Livingston Zumba instructor. The pupils then cheered on the school netball team, The Greenrigg Rockets, as they battled it out against the staff team. To end their day the staff and pupils were treated to a variety of healthy foods as part of a tasting session and completed their day with learning some martial arts techniques, including a weapons demonstration, thanks to the Kuk Sool Won group from Bathgate. A fun day was had by all.

Best Decorated Premises 2013
Congratulations to the staff and children who decorated our school gates for the Greenrigg, Harthill and Eastfield Gala Day. Their hard work paid off as not only did our school gates look beautiful, but it also scooped up 2nd prize!
A big thank you goes to Mrs Denholm for her time in organising this.

Comic Relief
Well done and thank you to all the pupils who donated money towards Comic Relief 2013.
This year we came into school wearing red clothes, joined in with the official Comic Relief song and dance at assembly and spent the whole day wearing our red noses! It was a relief to take them off at the end of the day.
Our rough total so far is £140 but we are still counting the money and will let you know of our final total soon.
Thank you again!
Euro Quiz 2013
Congratulations to our P6 Euro Quiz team, Elliot, Alison, Elena and Jodie, who competed at this year’s competition.
The team scored 42 out of a maximum 60 points on the day, placing them in 8th equal place. The scoring was very close with just a few points between the schools who placed ahead of our team, i.e. 43, 44, 46, so very well done to the pupils in what was a very challenging quiz.
The P6 team will be holding revision sessions for P5 pupils later this year to help them train for next year’s competition. If you would like to be part of the team, start revising now!
Pupil Council 2012-2013
The Pupil Council met at the beginning of the year and carried out their own school inspection! They discussed lots of positive aspects of the school such as the colourful wall displays, the quality of the work, the structure of the open areas, the friendly and positive atmosphere.
The Pupil Council also highlighted some areas which they would like to improve further such as keeping the school tidier, changing some slightly older wall displays, refreshing the playground games and buying new computers. They also wanted to be more involved in changing the open areas regularly.
Our wall display at the front office will show you our action plan and will also show you which actions we have already completed.
