The upper school classes were lucky enough to receive a visit today from Rong Rong MacLeod. Rong Rong was in to teach us all about Chinese New Year and Chinese culture. We got to make Chinese New Year cards, money envelopes, calendars and Chinese lanterns. Rong Rong also played the Pipa for us and we performed a lantern dance! Thank you Rong Rong for a lovely day!

Day for Change
Thank you so much for all your amazing donations for Day for Change. Your spare change has really made a difference and will help children in Syria and the Philippines whose lives have been effected by war and natural disasters. A massive congratulations to the whole school for raising a huge £264.33, although the pupils did bag up the coins so we are probably a few pennies out (this will be a fun trip to the bank)
So, huge congratulations to Primary 2 for being the class winners. You will get your treat out of class with Mrs Monahan next week!
Thank you to the Rights Respecting Group who came up with the ideas and helped to make the day a success.
Another Busy Day for P7/6
Today P7/6 faced the Dragons of Dragon’s Den and the students of West Lothian College to take part in pitching their ideas for a new business. There was a lot to see and to hear and all groups performed extremely well. There was an overall winner between G.P.S and W.L.C and two group winners. Children have worked for weeks to come up with a product, create a business, make a business plan and deliver a pitch to sell their business to some very scary Dragons. I’m delighted to say that it was a G.P.S business which took the overall winner slot. They produced a high quality product which was well researched and pitched well. Their name was Tropicise and consisted of Nathan Hill, Lewis Galloway, Ethan Kellie, Jake Turner and PJ Swan. Well done boys! The G.P.S winner was Battle Monsters Crew (Brandon Aitken, Logan Nuttall, Cody Watson and John Kerr) Please take the time to look at our photos. Lots of confident individuals.
Football festival
We are all very proud of our school football club who have took part in round two of the Whitburn Primary Schools Football League. Out of 6 games we won 4, lost 1 and drew 1. Keep up the hard work and training. Football club is finished for now until after Easter. We will be having another fun night on Wednesday 4th March, parents are welcome along to join in.
Big well done from Mrs Monahan, you all represented your school so proudly. You all had great team spirit and played excellently. I was so nervous for you all and loved cheering you on. I was very impressed they way you spoke to the other teams and were making new friends.
P7/6 What is Going on this Week!!!!
We have a very busy week ahead. Children are finalizing their Dragon Den topic and preparing for their presentations next week, they are working on imaginative writing and creating an adventure story with beginning, middle and end, they are helping out with some baking for the Fairtrade Event on Friday, we have a motivational speaker coming into see us on Thursday, an art teacher visiting us tomorrow afternoon from Stoneyburn and we are creating a wall display for the hall. As you can see, there is a lot happening and so children have been excused from written homework this week, although learning tables and practicing reading can still be done!!!! Hope to see you all on Friday and keep eyes peeled for pictures of the Dragon’s Den topic.
