Church Workshop ‘In My Father’s House’

Today, primary 1, 2 and 3 participated in workshops run by the church. We had great fun making glasses (P1) snow globes (P2), houses (P3) and bracelets. We then listened to Mary telling us some stories about finding God and Jesus and about Heaven. Pastor Ian told us about the Good News Club on Thursday evenings at 7pm at Greenrigg Mission as well as Sunday School (on Sundays!) at Bernhar Church in Eastfield.

P1 Book Bags

Thank you to all parents and guardians who were able to come into school today for our Book Bag gifting event. We hope you enjoyed being in class with the children and sharing the books with them. For parents who could not make it along, please have a look through the bag with your child and remember to vote for your favourite using the free post voting slip! The children enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters and talking about their favourite books today. They had the chance to explore some new books that they have never seen or heard before. The Book Bags are Part of a new Scottish Government initiative called Read Write Count and the aim is to encourage parental involvement in children’s reading, writing and counting. Feel free to visit the Scottish Book Trust website or the Read Write Count website for more ideas on how to do this.

Thank you again to those who came along!

P1 and the JRSO team

Today, the JRSO’s and JRSO Pupil Voice Group came to show us how to cross the road safely and speak to us about how important it is to wear bright colours when crossing the road, especially when it is dark.

We know to stand behind the kerb, look both ways, listen for any traffic, then cross if it is safe to. We know to cross in a straight line, walking (not running) and to keep looking both ways.

Primary 1 PE

On Tuesday, we enjoyed the lovely Autumn weather and had our PE lesson outside. We did our first Daily Mile around the playground and then worked on our balancing, throwing and catching using quoits.

Note for parents: It is useful for days like this, if your child has a set of outdoor PE clothes and outdoor trainers to keep with the rest of their PE kit. Thanks.

Harvest Celebrations

Yesterday, we had our first school visit to the church! It was quite a far walk, but our P6/7 buddies helped us get there safely.

Walking to the church safely

Our buddies showed us how to sit smartly in a church – for some of us it was the first time we had ever been in a church!

We listened carefully to the P5/6 class assembly about harvest and stood up to join in with the songs. We then listened to the Minister talk about what harvest time is important.

We were very lucky to be given some juice and a biscuit at the end!
