P1 assembly
Thank you to all who came along to the primary one class assembly this afternoon. The children have worked extremely hard over the past week to prepare for today and we hope that you enjoyed finding out about what we have learned this year!
Making Butter!
Last week, we were learning about dairy farms. We learned that ‘dairy’ products are products that are made from milk. We had great fun being scientists and experimenting with cream to try to make butter! Unfortunately, after a LOT of shaking, our butter did not quite turn out as planned. Luckily, there was some ‘pre-made’ butter in the school kitchen, so we were still able to have our crackers and biscuits with butter, even if it wasn’t butter we had made ourselves! We had great fun being scientists and trying though!
Investigating money
Today, Primary one have been learning about money. They have had lots of fun investigating what the different coins look and feel like. Please encourage the children to continue investigating money at home and discuss different coins with them. They are excited about helping to pay for items when out and about!
Judo
Welcome back after the Easter holidays!
Today, we had a Judo Taster session. Look out for the leaflet about Judo club in your school bag!
P1 dance workshop – week 2!
On Tuesday, we had our second dance workshop with Hannah. This week, we learned a dance to the Lion King – I Just Can’t Wait to be King!
P1 transition day
On Wednesday, 22nd February, we were joined by the P1’s from Stoneyburn to learn about recycling. We sorted items into ‘recyclable’ and ‘non-recyclable’. We also made recycling superheroes with Mrs Sibblad.
P1 Dance taster session
Yesterday we took part in a dance taster session. We had lots of fun dancing to ‘Brave’!
Alli’s certificate
Alli won ‘Pupil of the week’ at her dancing last week. Well done Alli!
P1 update!
What a busy few weeks back we have had after Christmas! We have been doing lots of learning about winter and have done lots of factual writing about what we see in winter as well as an imaginative piece of writing about a snowman that melted. We used drama to ‘build’ our own snowmen and read the story Sneezy the Snowman to help us think of ideas about how our snowmen would melt. We wrote our stories then used puffy paint (glue mixed with shaving foam!) to create our melted snowmen! We enjoyed combining drama, literacy and art for our stories.
We have also been helping keep the playground tidy by litter picking!
