We presented our class assembly about Friendship on Monday. Poppy-Grace said she felt nervous but fortunately it didn’t last long. All the children expressed and communicated their ideas, thoughts and feelings clearly and confidently. Through drama and role play we created imaginary situations to show how to be a good friend. We would like to thank everyone for coming along and supporting us.

Today pupils in P6/5 and P7 from Greenrigg were joined by pupils in the debating team from Stoneyburn. During the day they were working on different skills linked to debating. In the afternoon a group of pupils participated in a debate for other pupils including pupils in p3/4 who were invited to watch.
The motion of the debate was ‘All children get a free school lunch’. Both sides presented their arguments and then questions were invited from the audience. Overall the proposition won.
The debating team had prepared great speeches to support their side.
P2 will be presented their sharing the learning assembly on Monday 16th May at 2.20pm in the gym hall. Please come along and join us, we look forward to seeing you there.
Primary 1 have been learning about the Human Body. We learned the names for some parts of our body and were able to label them on a picture. We then drew around a partner in the playground and labeled the parts of the body on these. We practised matching the pictures to the words of the parts of the body.
We have been outdoors learning about sharing cubes into groups. Â Kayla said ‘it was fun’ and she ‘got it’ at the end of the lesson. All children successfully divided counters in to groups of 2, 3, 4 and 5. Adam said he used the 2 and 5 times tables to help him check the answer. Szymon said all the groups have to have the same amount in. We really enjoyed working outside.
On Saturday 14th May there is a free event taking place at The Helix in Falkirk. It is centred around nature and there are lots of things to do to learn about and interact with local nature.

It was lovely to see pupils looking at the new display in the corridor. This display shows examples of pupil learning in maths across early, first and second level. This is a great way to see how skills in maths develop during their time with us.
Please make sure you have a look next time you’re in school.
We got to enjoy a special show today. It was called Little Giants and was part of the Science Festival. Through this show we got to learn lots about honey bees which will help us with our topic on minibeasts. Did you know that honey is made from nectar that a bee carries in their stomach! We got to learn the waggle dance that bees do to show other bees where the good flowers are. We got to be bees in a special garden and had to use our sense of smell to work out each flower. There was strawberry, orange, rose and vanilla.
