Primary 7 Leavers’ Arrangements

Primary 7 Leavers’ Presentation          22nd June 2020

We want to host a special event to mark the final week of term for Primary 7.  We have carried out a Risk Assessment and unfortunately cannot permit non-essential visits to the school.  Instead, we want to invite all P7s to an online Leaver’s Presentation and then to a ‘virtual’ Golden Table afterwards.

Will the Primary 7’s be able to visit the school before the end of term?

Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate this for now.  We intend to invite all Primary 7’s and their parents/carers to attend an official Primary 7 Leavers’ as soon as we can have mass gatherings again – even if this isn’t for months.

What is the Primary 7 Leavers’ Presentation?

The Leadership Team and P7 Teachers will host an online video conference using Google Meet.  Primary 7’s will be able to log in via Google Classrooms.  There will be a short presentation from the teachers which will last about 20-30 minutes.

When will this be?

It will take place on Monday 22nd June 2020 at 11am

How will we ensure internet safety during this?

Google Meet is approved for school use by South Lanarkshire Council.  Pupils can only be in the Meet when teachers activate it and are present.  Staff will monitor the participants to ensure it is used appropriately.

How do we log in to the Google Meet?

All P7 pupils will be added to a special ‘P7 Leavers’ Google Classroom’ this week.  They can log in to this using their Glow account and clicking on the Google Classroom tile. About 10 minutes before the meet begins, the link to the Google Classroom will be switched on inside the classroom.

What do we do if we don’t have access to the internet or IT devices?

Please call the school office to discuss this.

My child doesn’t know/has forgotten their Glow log in?

Email gw07asmwoodheadps@glow.sch.uk and we will send it or reset it for you.

Can parents/carers join the Google Meet?

Only pupil Glow accounts will be able to join the Google Meet.  We would suggest that the pupils are ‘in camera’ and parents/carers watch and listen from the same room.

Will we be able to view the presentation afterwards?

The Google Meet will not be able to be shared afterwards, but the presentation used will be posted online.

What is the Golden Table?

The Golden Table is a tradition of Woodhead Primary School.  Children who display the school values can be invited to dine at the Golden Table during lunchtime.  Whilst eating their lunch, they can also enjoy some treats.  The table is decorated with special Golden tablecloth and decorations.  At the end of P7, we hold a Special P7 Leavers’ Golden Table to make sure that every child gets invited at least once in their time at Woodhead.

What is the Virtual Golden Table?

Immediately after the P7 Leavers’ Glow Meet, (or as soon as you are able to) we invite you to host your own Golden Table at home.  This could be a picnic in the garden, a special lunch or treat at home or simply a biscuit and drink of juice – it’s up to you.

How will we share this?

Please take a photograph or video of your child enjoying their Golden Table and email it to gw14wpshomelearning@glow.sch.uk or Tweet it to @woodheadprimary.  We will combine these into a Leavers’ Golden Table video to be shared online.

Will the Primary 7’s get a Leavers’ Gift?

In the last week of term, we will be posting an envelope to all P7s with some items we planned to present at the Leavers’ assembly.  This will include an autograph books with special messages from the staff.

Normally, we present all P7s with their High School tie.  Calderside Academy have decided to do this for all S1’s this year meaning we can’t do this for the children.  Instead, we will present all P7s with a gift when they come back for the proper Leavers’ assembly.

Around 2pm on Monday 22nd June, check the school Twitter page or school website for a special video message for all P7s.

Will the children have an opportunity to have their t-shirt signed?

Yes, this is a very important tradition for the P7s.  Please keep a t-shirt or school shirt to bring along when we can have the proper Leavers’ assembly.

We hope the children enjoy the events we have planned for them.  Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Mr. Clark and all of the staff at Woodhead.
