Diamond Jubilee Blog Reward

I hope everyone is enjoying their Jubilee extended weekend.   Here we go with another blog reward.  This time there is no secret word but a  question to answer.  The first person to either say the answer to me in person tomorrow or post a comment on this blog post will win 10 minutes extra playtime for their whole class!

I am watching some of the Jubilee celebrations just now so the question will be about that –

“Unfortunately the queen’s husband has been ill and has missed the last two days of the celebrations but the question is what is his first name?”

Well done to Zachriya in P5a who was first to post a comment with the correct answer ‘Philip.’

Look out for more Blog rewards soon.

Oliver! Opening Night a Success

Well done to everyone involved in the drama club’s opening night of Oliver! which was extremely well received by a brilliant audience.  A fantastic opening night.  My two boys (who are 6 and 8 years old) absolutely loved it and sang all the songs all the way home in the car! Tomorrow sees two more performances: one at 9.30am where most of the pupils in the school will get to see it (and for free!!!) and then our final performance will be at 7.30pm.

South Lanarkshire Champion

Well done to everyone who travelled today with Mrs Stephen and Mr Campbell to compete in the South Lanarkshire Finals of the Outdoor Track & Field.  Competition was fierce but everyone competed very well, in hot conditions.

Congratulations to Ryan Stephen who won the 600m to become South Lanarkshire Champion (to add to his Cross Country South Lanarkshire title he won in March).

Oliver!

Remember folks it’s the drama club’s production of Oliver this week with performances on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Wednesday morning.  Full dress rehearsal on Monday for the cast.  School pupils will get to see the show on Wednesday morning for free!!!

Break a leg everyone!

Boys Defeat Cathkin

The boys continued their potential march towards back to back league titles with an impressive and hard fought 9-1 victory over Cathkin Primary.  In a game that was much closer than the scoreline suggests, Hallside had to work very hard to get in at half time with a 3-0 lead. Man of the Match Jonathan McLean, the Hallside goalkeeper, had pulled off 3 stunning saves to keep Hallside in front, however after the restart, Cathkin scored to make it 3-1 and Hallside had a jittery spell where Jonathan McLean again came to their rescue with further saves and bravery at the feet of the Cathkin strikers.  As Cathkin pressed for more goals to get back into the game, Hallside broke up the park time and again to pilfer goals on the counter and to end Cathkin’s hopes of a win.  The boys now just need one more victory from their final two matches to clinch the championship.

Next fixture: vs Burnside, 6th June kick off 3.15pm.
