Hallside FP Stars for Scotland

Former Hallside pupil Duncan Weir, yesterday made his full international debut for the Scotland Rugby team in the RBS Six Nations match against France at Murrayfield.  Unfortunately France won the game 23-17, but Duncan played well when he came on as a second half replacement.

Duncan plays for Glasgow Warriors and, clearly, he is going from strength to strength.  He was very sporty when he was here and we are all very proud of his achievements.

Well done Duncan.

Gruelling Cross Country Trials

Well done to all the P6 and P7 boys and girls who, on Thursday and Friday, completed the gruelling 1.2km course around the school as part of the cross country trials.

Everyone completed the course and were very supportive of each other, cheering on the first people over the line and encouraging everyone across the finish line.

Mr Campell and Mrs Stephen are currently working on who will make it into the team for the Cambulang and Rutherglen Sports Council Cross Country Event on Thursday 8th May.

I’ll keep you posted here.

Oliver! Cast Announced

After weeks of whole cast auditions, large group auditions, small group auditions, paired auditions and individual auditions, vast amounts of deliberation and debate.  Finally the cast of Oliver! 2012 know what parts they are going to play.Unfortunately it is impossible for everyone to get the part that they want, otherwise we would have 10 Olivers, 16 Nancys, 14 Dodgers, a handful of Bill Sikes and numerous Fagins.  However, everyone did so well during the audition process and each and every person has a part to play, so together we will put on a fantastic show.

Congratulations to Lauren Stewart (Oliver), Melissa Dearie (Dodger), Amy Morton and Brooke Somerville (Nancy), David Carruthers (Fagin) and Adam Patton (Bill Sykes).

Check back here soon to see the full cast list (as soon as I have typed it all up!).

Football Girls Unbeaten

This week Hallside took two teams from the Girls Football Squad to play in a football festival at Lifestyle.

The teams included: Lauren Muir, Holli Boyd, Zoe Yeung, Aleesha McKillop, Lucy Rosenbloom, Courtney McGowan, Lisa Priestly, Rhiannon Fraser, Kirsty Little, Heather Jackson and Angela Aiton.

Depsite foul weather and freezing conditions, the Hallside teams played extremely well and managed to win every game.  Holli Boyd, one of the P7 players, said that she was enjoying playing so much she ‘didn’t feel the cold!’

Hallside scored 30 goals and these were scored by Holli (5), Lucy (5), Aleesha (4), Kirsty (3), Lauren (3), Zoe (3), Lisa (2), Rhiannon (2), Angela (2) & Courtney (1).

Ms McMenemy and Ms Tees, the Girls Team coaches, both said that not only did they play well, but they also played with great spirit, team work and a good sense of fair play.

Well done.

Next up is the big Challenge Cup next month.  Good luck.
