Swimming Successes

Here we have Hallside’s swimming superstars Olivia McFarlane and Ethan Horn.

Olivia is sporting her latest medal haul with a 1st in 100m butterfly, 2nd in 100m backstroke, 2nd in 100m freestyle, 2nd in 100m breaststroke, 2nd in 100m individual medley, 2nd in 200m freestyle and 5th in 200m breastroke.  Wow!

Ethan has his trophies and medals from his 1st 100m breastroke, 1st in 100m individual medley, 1st in 200m fresstyle, 1st in 200m backcrawl, 2nd in 100m butterfly, 2nd in 100m backcrawl, 2nd in 100m freestyle.  Wow!

Ethan also went off to compete in the Scottish Schools National Swimming Gala, representing both Hallside Primary and South Lanarkshire.  Unfortunately he was disqualified for the minutest of flinches on the board before the race started.  He still clocked up a phenomenal time.  Better luck next time, but well done on being the first Hallsider to make it all the way to the national gala.  We’re very proud of you.

Hallside PS, South of Scotland SSFA Champions

Well done to the boys football team who travelled to Dumfries on Wednesday to compete in the South of Scotland SSFA Regional Finals.  They played exceptionally well, remained undefeated, without conceding a goal and topped the table by 4 clear points.  This means they have now qualified for the National Finals, placing them in the top 8 schools in the whole country!

As promised, here are some photos of a great day at Queen of the South’s ground, Palmerston Park. (Thanks to Mrs Taylor and Mr Rushbury for the brilliant photography)

Tom Milligan, Basketball Star

Tom Milligan, P7a, has this week managed to secure a place in the Scotland Youth Basketball Squad.  After two weekends of rigorous trials, that involved journeys to Aberdeen, Tom got the good news that he had made it in.  He now looks forward to travelling to Andorra to represent his country.

I’ll keep you all posted here on how he gets on.

Well done Tom.
