Clyde 2-0 Peterhead, Hallside Inspire Clyde to Victory

Wow!  What a brilliant day.

Sun shining, two mascots, the ballboys and ballgirls doing their jobs.

Hallside team photo in the matchday programme.

Brilliant half time goals scored by Hallside players. Brilliant goalkeeping to keep so many out.

Back to the game – a penalty, a red card “who are ya!”

Chic Charnley winding us up into a frenzy, “two nil, two, nil!”

“There’s only one, Jim Duffy!”

A vital 2-0 win for Clyde – The scoreboard read – HALLSIDE PRIMARY LUCKY MASCOTS.

All onto the pitch for a kickabout and back home for tea.

Thank you again to everyone at Clyde FC for making us so welcome.  To all the parents who came along to help and offer their support.

I hope you all enjoyed your day as much as I did.

(It would be great of you were all to post a comment on what you thought of the day)

Hallside Clyde FC Visit (We’re on the Clyde Website!)

I am off to Broadwood with a bus full of 82 Hallsiders heading to see Clyde play Peterhead tomorrow.

If you visit the Clyde FC  site (click here) you’ll see that one of the four news headlines is “Hallside Primary Visit” with a photograph of our boys team in their new blue kit.

We are providing the official mascots, 10 others will be ballgirls and ballboys and 22 will take part in a penalty shoot out on the park at half time, with the rest all watching the game free of charge.

Who is doing what?

Mascots Dylan Mills and Adam Welsh

Jim Duffy

A huge thank you to Jim Duffy, manager of Clyde FC, who took time out of his preparations for tomorrow’s game against Peterhead to come to Hallside and share his experiences with the pupils in p4-7.

It was really interesting to hear, and I especially liked the fact that he loves MATHS!!!

His tips on improving as a player as well as healthy eating, exercise, teamwork and the importance of friends all amounted to some fantastic advice from someone who has played and managed at Celtic, Morton, Falkirk, Dundee, Partick Thistle, Hibernian, Hearts, Brechin, Portsmouth, Norwich City, Chelsea and now, of course, Clyde.

Thanks Jim.

Red Nose Day Joke Book Homework Challenge

This week’s homework includes submitting a suitable joke for our Hallside Primary Red Nose Day Joke Book.

You can email it to jokebook@hallside-pri.s-lanark.sch.uk or hand it in on the homework sheet to your teacher.

Every suitable joke will be included in the book that you will be able to buy to help raise funds for our donation to Comic Relief.

Looking forward to chortling, chuckling, giggling and tee-hee-ing my way through 540 side splitters!!!

Grease Auditions continue

We will be continuing with the Grease auditions on Monday.  To let us have the chance to see individuals and smaller groups we were hoping to show edited highlights of the dvd.  If you see this message spread the word amongst members of the drama club to seek permission from their parents.  If anyone’s parents want to opt out then they can let me know on Monday.

Mr B

Bronze for Athletics Team

Congratulations to the Hallside Athletics team who, on Friday, travelled to the John Wright Sport Centre to compete in the Cambuslang and Rutherglen Sports Hall Athletics Finals and finished in 3rd place, just three points behind the team in second place, with the winners only one point further ahead.  What a close contest and a real team effort.  Well done.

The team consisted of:

Clair White, Megan Gemmell, Jordan Donnan, Angus Robb, Kieran Stewart, Ethan Horn, Heather Jackson, Zoe Paterson, Ewan Little, Lewis Slivinski, Morgan Hannah, Emma Waugh, Russell Menzies, Blair Sutherland, Carys McLynn and Zoe Yeung

Well done P3a

Just back to my office having been to see P3a’s amazing show “Eddie the Penguin Saves the World.”

I really enjoyed it and the performances were brilliant.  The message of simple small steps making a huge difference to global warming was clear for all of us in the audience.  The songs were great, it was superbly narrated and the costumes were adorable.

Well done P3a.  A huge success.

Clyde 2-1 Stirling Albion

Back from going to the Clyde game today and they won 2-1.  I met a few of you from school there, taking advantage of the kids go free offer, so that was great.

I have to say a very big thank you to Gordon Mason and Gordon Thompson at Clyde for inviting me along and making me so welcome.  Hopefully there will be more exciting things to come from the link up between Hallside and Clyde FC in the coming months.

New League Sponsor

I am delighted to announce that the new sponsor for the football league that I run for local primary schools is Clyde FC.

They would like to invite all the pupils (Under 16s) to their game on Saturday for FREE!

They play Stirling Albion at 3pm on Saturday 12th January at their home stadium, Broadwood, in Cumbernauld.

Click here to visit their website for more details.
