P5 Rugby Festival

The P5 teachers have chosen their representatives for the Rugby Festival that takes place tomorrow at Fernhill Community Centre.

The pupils have had some coaching from the rugby coach, Grant, who has been coming into school to work with all  of the P5s and P4s.

We will have two teams involved and we wish them the best of luck. Check back here for the results.

The two teams will be:

After School Clubs

Today was the deadline for the after school clubs letters to be handed in.  I wasn’t in school today (I was at a finance education meeting!) but on Monday we will start to look at who will be in what clubs.

With regards to a few of my clubs: remember things like the boys football have already started and we have had a great response at the trials.  The boys already know how we are going about setting up the various squads.  The athletics kicked off yesterday with around 100 pupils running their fastest times in the trials and again we’ve explained how we need to go about deciding on a squad.  The drama club will start on the 8th of October and we take anyone who is interested into this club.  Anyone who has returned a slip with drama ticked can attend and should come along on the first day.  The chess club will be up and running in term two and more news will be out about that after I have had a look at the numbers of people signing up.

Thanks for your great response.  We have loads of after school opportunities throughout the school and I know the staff who are involved really appreciate your enthusiasm.

Have a good weekend.

Pupil Council Elections

I have provided all of your teachers with details of the Pupil Council elections that should take place this week.

This role is a vital and extremely responsible one.  Pupils who put themselves forward and are elected must be ready to work hard, able to listen, be able to speak to others, including large groups, have ideas for the school, be responsible, always be very smartly turned out and generally represent the school well at all times.

Speeches and campaign posters can be made (no bribing with sweets though!) to canvas the support of your fellow classmates.  All results should be with be by Friday 24th Aug and we’ll announce the results both at next week’s assembly and, of course, right here at my blog.

I look forward to our first meeting of the new session.

Summer?!?

Hi all,

Just back from a break down in London where we went to Legoland (big surprise there!), we did the Hampton Court Maze, went to see the changing of the guard at Windsor Castle and on the way back stopped at Birmingham to go to Cadbury World (mmmm!).

Hope you are all having a good summer, despite the horrendous weather!

Feel free to add more of your comments to the blog.

Enjoy the rest of the ‘summer’!

Super Tuesday

This Tuesday will be huge in Hallside.

9.30am – P7 Graduation

12.30pm – Staff/Parents v Pupils Football Challenge

7.00pm – P6 & P7 Seniors’ Dance

The P7s have been working hard on their graduation show and it is looking like being a cracker.

In the afternoon a team of teachers and parents (which will include Mr Bamford, Mr McKenna, Ms Tees and Ms McMenemy) will take on all of the p7 players from all of the various girls’ and boys’ squads in 4 or 5 30 minute matches.  The staff have been undefeated in the last 10 years will this continue?!?!?  Ask your teacher if your class can come out to watch.  Will you cheer on the pupils or the teachers?  The first game will kick off at 12.30, so you can watch during lunchtime

Then in the evening it’s time to get glammed up and head back to school for some nice food and a dance as the P6s and P7s have their senior’s dance.

Roll on Super Tuesday!
