Good luck in the talent show everyone!
I’m having browser difficulties that will only let me post titles at the moment, I will add detailed posts as soon as I can.
My Money Week – Total of £4050 raised through pupils’ brilliant business ideas
Cross Country – Ryan Stephen wins South Lanarkshire Championship
Boys Football – Hallside 5v1 James Aiton
Girls Netball – Hallside 9v2 James Aiton
Boys Football Fixtures Confirmed
There will be a top of the table clash as Hallside travel the short distance to take on James Aiton on Wednesday 28th March, with a 3.15pm kick off. Following last year’s hardfought 6-0 win for Hallside, both teams are vying for this year’s championship so it promises to be a great clash.
Unfortunately Bankhead have had to postpone our fixture on Thursday 22nd of March due to unforseen circumstances but are going to phone me next week to get a rearranged fixture date for after the spring holidays.
£1 Challenge Launched
‘My Money Week’ Entrepreneurial Homework Challenge
Next week, the ‘My Money Week’ homework challenge will be launched, ahead of ‘My Money Week’ starting on 12th March.
Pupils will all be issued with £1 and the challenge will be to take that one pound and, using entrepreneurial and business skills, to make that £1 grow into as much money as possible. Parents and families are perfectly welcome to join in and make it a joint venture. There will be awards for the highest amount raised in every class and the most original idea.
Pupils will have two weeks and then be asked to bring their proceeds back into school. Along with this they will be asked, adults can help again, to write up a short report/paragraph on what they have done and how they have gone about it. The more imaginative the better, although remember nothing illegal and no gambling!!!
The simple idea I gave to the pupils at assembly was to take the pound to the supermarket, buy a four pack of chocolate bars on special offer, take them home and find big brothers, mums, dads or others who will buy one for 50p, instantly making £1 profit. Then repeat! This seemed to ignite some ideas in the pupils heads and clearly there will be plenty of better and far more ingenius ideas.
After some deductions (I’ll explain this nearer the time, but we will try to use the experience the show the concept of taxation) the classes will be able to decide for themselves what they want to spend the money on: class trip, something for the classroom, class treat, sending to charity or a combination.
Letters and cash will come out at the end of next week and let the entrepreneurial games commence!
