Christmas in p1/2

The children have had a fabulous few weeks in class leading up to Christmas.

We have had a  Christmas corner in the classroom. The children loved sitting on the sofa in front of the fire reading and playing together.

They loved the story of baby Jesus being born. We acted it out in drama lessons and then they  had little puppets to act it out themselves afterwards.

Everyone helped to make the class advent calendar which allowed every child to get a sweet on one of the days.

They have been doing lots of craft activities, in class, in art and also in French.

On the final day of term we had a Christmas party. Lots of dancing, music, games and smiles.

Swimming Lessons

The classes have really enjoyed their lessons at Scalloway pool this term. Mr Kirkness was impressed with their listening and effort and both classes have made lots of progress with confidence and skills.

Each week the classes take turns at going in the pool so while the p2 group are in I teach the p1’s at the poolside and vice versa. It is quite a productive time and the children are kept very busy with maths and literacy activities.

A huge thankyou to all the parents who volunteered to come along each Tuesday.  I am very grateful for all your help.
