When a school has a rationale for its
curriculum, it means that everyone
involved with the school can answer the
questions ‘What is it we want for these
children?’ and ‘What are we going to do
to achieve it?’ (Education Scotland)
In August 2018 we created our first Curriculum Rationale for Troon. This has been reviewed and updated in 2025. This helps ensure that everyone within our school is clear about what we are aiming to achieve, what our key drivers are, and our unique qualities that make us such a strong school community.
We wanted our rationale to reflect our local environment and have centred each of the four slides around the beach and our seaside location.
Our desire to ensure every child’s needs are met within an inclusive environment is represented by the ‘Getting it Right For Every Child’ bird and Wellbeing Indicators
