We value pupil voice at Troon Primary School. Our children are involved in a number of leadership opportunities and improvement teams. These can include:

During 2023-2024, our pupil voice groups worked collectively as the ‘Global Impactors Group’. This allowed the children to lead their learning and begin to drive change in school and the local community. The children worked with Thriving Communities and local partners on their ‘Walk the World’ initiative linked to the Olympic Games and planned their IDL learning for the term. Our Term 4 pupil led topic for Session 2024-2025 focused on ‘Through the Decades’. From 2024-2026, every pupil was involved in a Pupil Voice group. Groups met every month and shared their learning at assembly. This session we are further developing our Pupil Voice Groups and rebranding as Improvement Teams. Each team will also have a Primary 7 Ambassador to help lead the meetings with the teacher.
Our new Young Leaders of Learning (YLL) Group are excited to be working with St Patrick’s YLL group this year and have already been to a launch day at County Buildings. The programme was developed by Education Scotland as a way to give children and young people a real say in their education and school life. The programme encourages pupils to share their views, help improve the school, identify what is working well, and suggest areas for development. It also supports children’s rights by promoting participation in decision-making and ensuring their voices are heard.
