Eco-Schools in Scotland

We are proud to be an Eco-School and were awarded our fourth Eco Flag at the end of June 2022.  This hangs in our foyer due to the very windy nature of our playground! We are extremely proud of how far we have come in our eco journey, embedding ecological awareness in our practice

We have now also achieved our ‘Fairaware’ and ‘Fairactive’ awards through our ongoing commitment to the support and education of Fairtrade practices.

The Eco-Schools Scotland programme is made up of a set of Seven Elements that are used to plan action on environmental issues and that form the criteria for the Green Flag Award. To earn a Green Flag Award, you need to follow the Seven Elements, ensuring that Eco-Schools is pupil-led, linked to the curriculum and involves the whole school and wider community.

Eco-Schools Scotland is designed to encourage whole-school community action on Learning for Sustainability. The programme encourages young people to engage in their environment by allowing them the opportunity to actively protect it.  The programme starts in the classroom and expands to the whole school, eventually fostering change in the community at large.
