Following the ‘Bags of Help’ public vote in the local Tesco Stores our project ‘Fit and Fun’ came first and has been chosen by Tesco customers to receive a £12,000 grant. We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded this grant. The money received has been earmarked for projects that will improve outdoor learning and play for our children through funding improvements in the playground and developing the Nursery Secret Garden. Sincere thanks to Mrs Henry who worked with Mr McKay and the children of the Playground Games Committee to put together the winning project. Thank you also to those who voted for our project.
St Catherine’s has been nominated alongside two schools in Clydebank to receive funding from the Tesco Bags of Help Initiative. The project with the most votes at the end of the voting process will be awarded £12,000. The second and third placed projects will receive funding amounting to £10,000 and £8,000 respectively.
If you are planning to shop in the Tesco stores in East Lane, Renfrew, Linwood or the Tesco Express in Renfrew Road voting please vote on or before Sunday 6th March for our project which focuses on improving the playground and supporting outdoor learning.
Please vote for St Catherine’s in the East Lane Tesco store from 27 February until 6 March. The more votes we receive the better chance we have of receiving £12,000, £10,000 or £8,000 awards to improve our playground. To vote simply pop a token into the St Catherine’s section of the voting container. Votes from family, friends and neighbours all count too so get voting!!!
Tesco has teamed up with greenspace scotland to launch its Bags of Help initiative across Scotland. The scheme will see three community groups and projects in each region awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.
Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store from 27 February until 6 March on who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards.
