Hi boys and girls, so sorry I forgot to hand out your poem at the end of the day! Try and practice as best as you can for Tuesday please. Sorry!
Glasgow
Here is the bird that did fly
spread its wings and flew
never ceasing, ever increasing as ambitious Glasgow grew.
Here is the tree that did grow
sprouting at a quick pace
branches reaching down below
creating our dear green place
Here is the bell that dud ring
with clear and positive chimes
always changing but never stopping
keeping up with modern times
Here is the fish that did swim
down the Clyde towards the sea
on an unexpected whim
happily feeling free
Our dear green place we have to nourish
So lets make Glasgow flourish!
There was a wee lassie who swallowed a midgie. I don’t know why she swallowed a midgie so teeny and squidgy.
There was a wee lassie who swallowed a trout, it flip flopped and swim swam and bubbled about.
There was a wee lassie who swallowed a midgie. I don’t know why she swallowed a midgie so teeny and squidgy.
There was a wee lassie who swallowed a puffin. As if it where nothing, she swallowed a puffin!
There was a wee lassie who swallowed a Scottie. Completely dotty, she swallowed a Scottie!
There was a wee lassie who swallowed an eagle. Its really not legal to swallow and eagle!
There was a wee lassie who swallowed a seal. Like no big deal, she swallowed a seal!
There was a wee lassie who swallowed a cow. I mean – wow! – she swallowed a cow!
There was a wee lassie who swallowed a Nessie. Its especially messy to swallow a Nessie!
There was a wee lassie who swallowed a loch. It was massive but, och, she swallowed a loch!
There was a wee lassie who swallowed a midgie, but why a midgie, so teeny and squidgy?
and could she have swallowed yet more? – no doubt! but the loch that sloshed through her washed everything…. OUT!
Talent Show
Auditions for the talent show will be on Monday 5th June at lunchtime. Children who need music for their act should bring it with them. You do not need costumes. We will remind children nearer the time. Keep practising your singing/dancing/gymnastics/jokes.
Please remember, not all the acts will be able to be in the talent show as there are so many people auditioning.
Sports Day
Just a wee reminder – Primary 1 will be doing the following tomorrow (weather permitting)
We had such a busy afternoon in Primary 2H. The children worked in their topic groups to create a habitat which they had researched. We have Ocean, Desert, Arctic and Rainforest habitats. They all look fantastic!
Due to the short week and Sports Day, there will be no official homework this week. Homework will be issued as normal on the Tuesday after the long weekend.
I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow!
Miss Hamilton
The P1, P4 and P7 class photographs were sent home today. You are not obliged to order any. If you wish to make an order, please complete the order form and return it. Thank you
Hi everyone
I hope you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sunshine when it appeared!
The final holiday of this session is fast approaching and I have no idea where the time has gone! A reminder that children stop for the long weekend on Wednesday this week and won’t return to school until Tuesday 30th May.
Due to the short, 3 day week and because we have sports day on Tuesday, there will be no formal homework set this week. I will send bookbags home tomorrow (won’t need them back until after the holiday weekend) because most library books are inside them. Feel free to read these during the week if you wish.
On Tuesday, children should come to school dressed appropriately in their sports kit and wearing house colours. Please prepare for all weather possibilities (rain jacket , suncream, hats etc.)
As always, please let me know if there is anything I can help with.
Enjoy the long weekend when it comes. Here’s hoping the sun is shining!
Miss Cruickshank

I hope you had a great weekend. This week there will be no formal homework. We have sports day on Tuesday ( weather permitting) inservice on Thursday and holiday Friday and next Monday. On sports day pupils should try and wear their house colour. Please ensure they have suncream on and a hat as children will be out most of the day.
Have a great week.
Mrs Fulton
Hope you have had a great weekend. There will be no homework this week as we have Sports Day on Tuesday (weather permitting!) and In Service day on Thursday, holiday on Friday and next Monday!
Sports Day-please remember children should wear a t shirt of their house colour.
Hawks are green, Falcons are blue, Ospreys are red and Eagles are yellow.
Please make sure your child has suncream applied before they come to school and bring a sun hat if they have one and a bottle of water. Even if it is cloudy, it is deceptive in the playground and on the field, especially if it is windy. We all want to be sun safe!
See you tomorrow!
Mrs Campbell
These recipes may help you with your work this week. We will be looking at converting different weights to be able to buy ingredients for different recipes.

Personal Project: You have personal project to prepare on an aspect of the Titanic. You will then present your project to the class on Thursday 15th June. If you know that you will be away from school on that day (maybe to somewhere hot and sunny) you can complete your project earlier. Please let me know and I will organise a different date for your presentation. The criteria and task sheet for this task can be found here.
Here are your reminders for this week:
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
See you all tomorrow.
Mrs. Hughes
Over the next few weeks you should prepare a personal project presentation on the Titanic. You will then present your project to the class on Thursday 15th June. I know some of you may already be sunning yourself somewhere hot on this date, therefore you may complete your project prior to this date. Please see me (or Mrs Hughes if you are in P5H) and I will organise a different presentation date for you. The criteria and task sheet for this task can be found below.
Titanic Personal Project Presentation
Learning Outcome: I can research a given topic and create a detailed presentation.
I can use primary and secondary sources selectively to research events in the past. SOC 2-01a
I can discuss why people and events from a particular time in the past were important, placing them within a historical sequence. SOC 2-06a
Skill for Learning
Application & Knowledge: I can apply my knowledge of a given topic to plan and produce an interesting presentation.
Skill for Work
I can organise my time and resources independently to ensure my presentation is completed in the allocated time.
Background
To build further on your presentation skills you have to prepare a personal project to present to your peers. Presentations play a huge part in our learning and being able to present to your peers, with confidence, is a great skill to learn. |
Task
What you need to know: Your personal project should be about the Titanic. You may choose any aspect you wish. What you need to do: You can present your project in any way you choose. This might be in written form, a PowerPoint presentation, a booklet, a video or even a model. In other words, you have the choice to choose the way you feel will best help you to demonstrate your knowledge of your chosen topic. This project is all homework based therefore you need to think about the resources you will have access to: books, library, internet, personal accounts etc. What you need to think about: You can use whatever you need to describe your personal project: photographs, videos, props etc. Try to think about why you picked this area for your project. What was it that interested you about it? Remember some people in class may know nothing about the area you have chosen to discuss, so you must explain it in detail. How to get started: Get all of your ideas down on paper and then decide which ones are the most relevant and will best engage your audience.
|
Product Criteria
· You have 4 weeks to pull your presentation together so use your time wisely. You will be presenting your information to the class on Thursday 15th June 2017. Remember to try and present your information in a different format from what you have done before. Be creative!
· This is an independent research project. It is your responsibility to organise your time effectively and ensure you are putting in enough effort. · Everyone will approach this task in different ways so don’t worry if your friends are doing something different from you. Have faith in what you have to say and it will all work out. · This is your chance to show just how well you can take responsibility for your own learning. |
Happy researching!
Mrs O’Neill
Good afternoon everyone! I hope you have been having a lovely weekend. It is that time again so please keep reading for a rundown of the coming week. Please remember it is a short week for you as you will finish on Wednesday for the holiday weekend.
Spelling: No spelling this week!
Reading: Your core reader was issued last Thursday. Once again, there will be no written homework as we will continue to complete our comprehension tasks for the core readers in class. As always, if there is any vocabulary you are unsure of, please take a note of it and we will discuss it in class.
Please remember to read aloud to someone at home and try to use expression where needed. Your reading feedback form should be completed (if possible) by the person hearing you read aloud. This task should be completed for Thursday 1st June. Your core reader should be brought to school with you each Thursday to allow you to participate in the class lesson. A number of you are forgetting to do so!
Personal Reading Challenge: Our Personal Reading Challenge has began again. You have 5 weeks to reach the target you set last week. Please remember to bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC sessions.
Please remember to record the books in your reading passport as you finish them. The passport is kept in class. Remember this is your record of the number of books you have read so far this term.
Maths: No maths this week!
If you wish additional practice of your multiplication tables, please use the links below.

PASSENGERS ON THE TITANIC
There were approximately 1300 passengers on the Titanic when she made her maiden voyage. As you know there were first, second and third class passengers on board. Now it is time for you to find out more about them.
Each group member has been given the name of a passenger who was on board when the Titanic embarked on her maiden voyage. Using the relevant links below, you are required to research information about your passenger. Only these links should be used. You should include:
You have 1 hour this part of your task
Yesterday, you received a permission slip for the P7 cluster event at Park Mains on Wednesday 24th May. Please ask a parent/carer to complete this and return it A.S.A.P.
We are also looking for 4 adult helpers to accompany us. We will be leaving at 9.10am and should return around 2.30pm. If your parent/carer can help out, please ask them to write a note in your diary, post a comment on the Blog or call the school to let us know.
Thank you in advance.
Miss McDowall and Mr McAvoy
As part of our Titanic topic we will be visiting the Tall Ship in Glasgow on Tuesday 6th June. We will be leaving at 9.45am and returning to school around 2.30pm. P5S requires 2 parent helpers and P5H requires 3 parents helpers. If you are able to help, please leave a post on our class blogs or send a message in via your child’s school diary by Wednesday 24th May. This will allow us to give our parent helpers plenty of notice.
Thanking you in advance.
Mrs 0’Neill and Mrs Hughes
Today Anna had you working on your shooting technique. She taught you about BEEF – are you able to tell someone at home what the letters stand for? She also taught you the correct way to take a set pass and a bank pass. She told you a wee trick for scoring a basket from a bank pass – can you tell someone at home what it was?You then took part in full court games, some of you are getting a little bit too competitive, remember basketball is a non-contact sport.
Now that you have secured your location and created a way to get cleaner water, it is time to think about food. Sometimes it will be easy to make a fire and sometimes that might not be your best option for cooking food. In some cases, a solar oven could come in handy. Compare and contrast a solver oven versus a fire to cook food below.
As well as designing and building your own solar oven, your group need to research various types of energy sources, particularly those we use in Scotland.
Solar power is one source of renewable energy, however there are other sources as well as non-renewable energy sources. In your group, use the links below to answer the following questions:
1.Identify renewable and non-renewable sources of energy and give an example of how these are used in Scotland.
2.What is another name for coal, oil & natural gas?
3.Name some positive and negative global impacts of using non-renewable and renewable energy sources.
4.Where do we get most of our electrical energy from? How is it transferred to our homes?
5.Suggest ways in which we can reduce our own energy use and live more sustainably.

We had a request from some parents to start the dance 15 minutes earlier. So the P7 Leavers’ Dance will take place on Thursday 22nd June, 6.45-9.30pm. Parents can return at 9.15pm to join in with Auld Lang Syne.
Thank you,
