Primary 7

Class Teacher: Miss Baird

Welcome to Primary 7!

It has been fantastic to welcome everyone back to school.  We are all settling so well and are already making great progress with our learning.

Our topic is ‘South Africa’. As well as learning about the history of South Africa, we have also used this as a stimulus for our current Talk for Writing unit on Information Texts. Check in regularly with Seesaw to keep up-to-date with our activities.

Our class novel is ‘The Fastest Boy in the World’ which we are reading for enjoyment and we are working hard to get our minutes up on Accelerated Reader! We have been revising grammar rules and working hard every day on our Wraparound Spelling.

In numeracy, we have been practising the four number processes and working on a new topic on place value.  We have regular active challenges to choose from to practise all our new learning.

We are continuing with our PAThS programme along with focussing on Growth Set.  We will have opportunities to enjoy time with our Active Schools Co-ordinator Marlon!

In PE, we are learning new skills and making good use of the indoor space.  Remember our PE days are Monday (indoor) and Friday (outdoor) each week, with an extra session outside on Thursdays with Marlon – so please come to school prepared for PE.  We take part in the Daily Mile most days, so please remember to bring a waterproof jacket on rainy day!

We are looking forward to a fantastic year full of learning and fun!

Homework

All homework can now be accessed via Seesaw. Use your child’s Home Learning Code to view activities they need to complete.

Reading homework – everyone has an accelerated reading book home and should be reading it every night for at least 30 minutes.  Children can only sit the quizzes for the books in school.  Any novels read at home – other than accelerated reading books – can also be taken as a quiz in school.  Please complete the Monthly Reading Record activity on Seesaw.

Maths – Children will be issued a piece of maths homework relating to work they have been doing in class each week. This will be issued on Friday, to be completed by the following Thursday and uploaded to Seesaw.

Thank you for your support with homework.
