TERM 1
Welcome to Primary 7/6!
We have had a fantastic start to the new year and have settled very well into our new classroom and routines! We are very much looking forward to all of the learning to come in P7/6.
This term our topic is South Africa and we have loved learning all about the history, geography and wildlife so far! We are using Talk for Writing in our literacy which has supported our topic well and we are excited to learn more to help us write detailed information texts.
We all have Accelerated Reading books now and are working hard to achieve an average of 25/30 minutes of reading time per day.
In numeracy, we have started with a refresher on place value and are challenging ourselves with numbers up to and beyond 1 million. We are going to revise multiplication and division so keep practising those times tables! Later in the year, we will learn fractions, decimals and percentages.

Homework
All homework can now be accessed via Seesaw. Use your child’s Home Learning Code to view activities they need to complete.
Literacy
- Reading homework – everyone has an accelerated reading book home and should be aim to read for 25/30 minutes daily.
Numeracy
A numeracy activity will be issued on Seesaw to be completed each week.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround – We always ensure we stay up to date with current affairs in Primary 7/6. They update the website twice a day, so be sure to keep up to date!
www.sumdog.com -This is an interactive maths games website where the children can compete against other pupils.
www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk – This website has many numeracy and literacy games which the children enjoying using in school.
www.spellingcity.com – This website enables the children to enter their spelling words and choose to play games which incorporate these words. They can also select the teach me and test me options. This is a fun way to revise and prepare for the spelling test.
www.incredibox.com – A fun music website that lets pupils create their own songs and beats!
