Class Teacher: Mrs Gibney Primary 2’s topic this term is Pirates and Islands. We are focussing on mental recall of number bonds to 20 in maths and the children are enjoying trying beat their own Hit the Button scores. Our open afternoon is Thursday 23rd March where we will show off everything we have been learning. Primary 2 are continuing to learn simple Spanish this term.
* Spelling homework will consist of 3 spelling words on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night.
On a Thursday night pupils should revise words for their test on a Friday. You might want to try some of the active spelling strategies we have been using in school such as Spellersize, Fancy Spelling or Dotty Spelling.
* There will be a weekly Maths task (one page) to complete which will be given out on a Monday and due in by Thursday. The children have also been given a copy of the number stories to 10 and help to practise these would be appreciated.
* Your child will have a reading book that they keep in class. They will bring home a library book each week. Please take time every evening to read with you child, listening to them and questioning them about the story.
*NEW* Story Explorer – The children are being introduced to different roles each week this term and information about each role is in the homework diary. “Have a go Joe!” at taking on one of the roles each week – the children will write which role they are to try in their homework diary.
* Occasionally the children may have topic related homework.
Parents please sign each piece of homework.
