Primary 5

Class Teacher:  Miss Matthews

Welcome to the Primary 5 class page!  We have made a fantastic start to the new term and are already enjoying settling into our new routines.

We are very much enjoying making the classroom feel special unique to our class.  Everyone has contributed to discussions and decision-making about our classroom helpers and class charter.  We know our voices are heard and opinions are valued.

Our Pupil Group will be Healthy Heroes and we are very excited about our ideas for pupil-led learning and projects this year.

As we settle into our new classroom, we will be making good use of different resources in numeracy and ensuring that we are both supported and challenged in maths. This term we are looking at place value including decimals, rounding and estimating, measurement and practicing all of our times tables.

We will also be exploring Talk for Writing as part of literacy this term.  So far we have linked this to our Ocean topic by writing a non-fiction piece and have started writing a fictional text about conquering a sea monster! Our first class novel for pleasure is ‘Flat Stanley’ by Jeff Brown and we are loving it already!

Our topic is Oceans and we enjoy learning new and interesting facts from each other and from  our recent library visit.

This term, our outdoor PE will be on a Monday and our indoor PE will be on a Friday.  Marlon will also take us for outdoor learning on a Wednesday.

If you have any questions/ comments please feel free to contact me via Seesaw. Thank you for your continued support 😀
