Nurture involves a focus on wellbeing and relationships to support the growth and development of children and young people. Renfrewshire’s Nurturing Relationships Approach has been developed by the Renfrewshire Educational Psychology Service and provides a framework and implementation process for schools to support the development of nurturing relationships across schools and communities.
At Bargarran, we are committed to developing nurturing relationships and have received an RNRA Jade Level 1 award.
RNRA is a focus area in school improvement plan in 2024-2025 and we are working towards Ruby, the next level of the award.
Our nurture bear, Buddy, is always around to help us too!
We use a range of techniques to help support the development of nurturing relationships such as:
- Class feelings check ins
- Worry boxes
- Playground Big Buddies
- Restorative conversations
- Wellbeing surveys
- Big Deal, Little Deal
- Fix it folder/wall
- Development of calm and sensory spaces in the school
