Primary 6

Welcome to  P6 2026

This year our teachers are Mrs McGlinchey (Monday-Wednesday) and Miss McManus (Thursday and Friday)

Our P.E. days are Tuesday – in the studio and Friday – in the gym hall.

This term we will be covering dance, Scottish Dance and gymnastics. We may take some of our PE lessons outdoors to the pitch or playground area some weeks.

On this day, please remember to come to school wearing our outdoor learning uniform – Grey/black jogging trousers or leggings, white polo shirt, red sweatshirt/jumper/cardigan, appropriate outdoor shoes and jacket. Please remember to come prepared for all weathers!  Remove all jewelry please.

Class Dojo

We will continue to update and share information on our work in class through Class Dojo.  Children are enjoying sharing some of their learning through their pupil profile and we also welcome news and events from home that you share on their profile page.  Thank you.

Homework

Homework will be issued and submitted via class dojo. Homework will be issued at the start of the week and should be completed by the end of the week. Homework diaries have log in details for various programmes to support learning.

We really appreciate so many of the children taking part in their home learning by returning their homework and some of their own learning shared further.

Reminder

Please ensure that all items that your child brings to school are clearly marked with their name. This is very helpful if items get misplaced!

Here are some of the things we will be learning this term…

Numeracy:

This term we will continue to practice our times tables with TTRS access, in school and at home.  We will also be exploring Measure; length, weight and volume capacity, symmetry and angles, Money and Time.  We will continue to use a variety of number talks to expand our knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Literacy:

We will continue to cover spelling, grammar through our Talk 4 Write lessons and some handwriting. We continue to access Accelerated Reading for our homework and our class library books, with the children’s own reading interests in mind, available for weekly library and reading from enjoyment use.  We will create opportunities for children to work in small groups during our IDL Scottish Topic time to develop their talking and listening skills.

BGE:

We will also have opportunities for other learning areas including  French, Drama, IDL Scottish Topic, Art and Technology – Energy.

Health and Wellbeing:  Our Emotional and Physical Wellbeing

We will be exploring the Zones of Regulation programme this term. This is an interesting programme that assigns colours to our emotions and feelings and we are learning how to identify these as physical feelings in our body too. Along side our weekly PE lessons we will continue our weekly walk and many outdoor learning opportunities to keep our learning active and varied.
