Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to all the current parent council members who have worked incredibly hard this year to get involved in as many projects as we can to continue to make Team Whitelees Great. I would like to also thank all our parent forum members who have been helping and supporting all our events this year as there has been so much going on and especially to all the regular helpers who have pitched in this year.
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff within in the school who have not only supported us this year but been involved with everything we do. Their input has been invaluable. Especially Mrs Hunter, Mrs Oliver, Mrs Murdoch and Mrs Stewart, Mrs Mollan and Jack McKelvie. We could not have done so well this year without everyone in the Team Whitelees community.
This year has been a very successful year for us. We have been involved in many different events some planned by us and some planned by the school. We have raised over £5000 this year which just shows how much support everyone within the Whitelees Community has given us and we hope this will continue.
We had 2 discos within the school. One for Halloween and one at spring both of which were well attended and everyone had fun. We continued to include a snack and drinks with the price of the tickets and have various games and items for the pupils to purchase if they wished.
We also held a community disco with Abronhill and St Lucy’s parent councils for p7 pupils. This was the first thing we have done under the local group of councils and we got plenty of support in terms of attendance and local business support and hopefully we can continue to grow the 3pc’s.
The Christmas Fayre as always is our biggest event in terms of funds raised and we had another very successful event with lots of help and support from the whole school community who enjoyed the festive fun.
We added back in the family fun night which was a much bigger financial success than we had expected earning over £1000 in profit. Everyone had a great time at this event and we had lots of positive feedback.
We helped on Sports Day / The Celebration of Mrs Oliver and we funded the ice cream van treats and climbing wall for the pupils. We also had a lot of PF members helping with this event too.
We have been involved in many other events such as discussions re the parking and new nursery, applying for funding grants, coffee afternoon, health week, walking buses, school shows, afterschool clubs running our twitter account and lots more.
The fund raised have been used Primarily with the costs of buses for school trips and mindfulness and resilience training for staff and pupils such as the Mind-set Matter Courses that we got a taster of recently which were very positively received.
We have said goodbye to a few faces within the school community within the last year and they shall all be missed. I am passionate that we have a great school community that enjoys working together to build on the team and make it continue to grow and evolve along the way despite the continued budget and staffing cuts the school has to continue to face each year.
I feel that the new team for this coming year will be well up for the challenges they face and will continue to work with the school to make it another great year for #TEAMWHITELEES and I look forward to what this year brings.
