Day 1 of the new school year, over in a flash and I am delighted to report that the boys and girls of Whitelees were ready for action as they made plans for the year ahead!
Remember to check out our website for updates on what is happening!
Wishing you all a wonderful summer, full of fun and laughter!
On behalf of all the staff, I would like to thank you for the many gifts and words of encouragement we have received. Your kindness is beyond words and we are very grateful.
Today we said a sad goodbye to our Primary 7 pupils and wish them all the very best as they move on to High School. I am in no doubt they will continue to make us very proud!
School reopens to pupils at 9am on Tuesday 18th August 2015!
Primary 4 are very excited about our school trip to Edinburgh tomorrow! In the morning we are looking forward to visiting Greyfriars Bobby and in the afternoon we will be going on a spooky tour of Mary King’s Close! We learned lots about these places during our Edinburgh topic and now we cannot wait to visit them in real life!
   Â
The forecast is looking good for tomorrow and the sun is expected to be shining so please put on some sun cream before you come to school.
Please remember to bring a packed lunch in a disposable bag so it can be thrown away when you are finished.
Â
Hopefully, there will be an opportunity to visit the gift shop at Mary King’s Close so if you wish to buy something please bring some money – no more than £5.
You can come to school dressed down for the trip. We will be doing a lot of walking so please come wearing some comfortable footwear.
    Â
Finally, we are hoping to return to school at 3pm, traffic allowing! However, if we expect to be late we will contact the school as soon as we can and parents will receive a text message with an approximate return time.
Check out our class blogs throughout the day tomorrow! We hope to keep you updated with our visit to Edinburgh and uploading lots of pictures!
As you know the whole school are busy rehearsing for the summer show.Â
Your child will have a clear notion of their part in the show by now and can advise if they have an alternative costume that is required.
ALL ORPHANS – The Primary 4-7 pupils are playing orphans from the Whitelees Orphanage and, if possible, are required to wear scruffy clothes and bring in dusters or cleaning utensils.
NYC GIRLS – should wear party clothes.Â
BOYLAN SISTERS – party clothes
All other cast members will be given a breakdown specific to their character.

Our dress rehearsal is next Monday but we would be very happy if pupils could start bringing these items in as soon as possible and they can be stored in the classroom.
We would also love it if pupils could bring in family photos that can be played on the big screen as part of a slideshow at the beginning of the show. These would be scanned and returned the same day.
We are all very excited for the show and your help and support in providing costumes and photos is very much appreciated.
