As you will know the Scholastic Book Fair is in school this week!
Children have had the chance to have a look at the books and see if there is anything they might like to buy yesterday and today.
They will then be able to purchase their books tomorrow and Thursday. Primary 1a, 1b, 2, 2/3, 3 and 4 will be able to buy books tomorrow (Wednesday) and P4/5, 5, 5/6, 6, 7a and 7b will be able to buy their books on Thursday. Please send your children in with money on the day if they wish to buy a book.
The Book Fayre will be available on the night of the Parent/Teacher Meetings when you can purchase books for your children if you wish.
Author Stuart Reid will be visiting Whitelees tomorrow to read to the whole school. This was a fabulous event last year and the children loved his interactive book reading!
He will be offering his books for sale afterwards.
You should have already received a letter with further information.
Recently Primaries 5/6, 6, 7a & 7b have taken part in designing and creating an outdoor nature area, as part of our Outdoor Learning opportunities. We took the time to make plans for what our area would look like, then gathered all of the natural materials to create the area.
Unfortunately, we had to delay our plans due to the amount of litter in that part of our school grounds. The litter may have been blown in through the fence from the lane leading to Lilac from Whitelees. We have since cleared the area of cans, bottles, crisp packets, carrier bags and cardboard. This allowed us to proceed.
DID YOU KNOW?
A dog could cut it’s tongue on a piece of glass!
A hedgehog could get it’s head stuck in a tin can!
A fox could get it’s head stuck in the plastic that attaches beer cans!
A bird could choke on a crisp wrapper!
We hope this won’t happen in our wildlife area but we need your help!
Please be aware of any litter in the area surrounding our school playground. If you could always put your litter in a bin that would make such a huge difference to our wildlife.
As every year World Thinking Day 2016 is on 22nd February and children who are members of the Brownies or Girl Guides Association are welcome to wear their uniforms to school on Monday if they wish, to help mark this important celebration where we are encouraged to think about our sisters and brothers in all countries around the world!
We look forward to seeing some Brownies and Guides uniforms on Monday!
