Primary 6/7 and Primary 7 are holding a World War ll coffee afternoon on Wednesday 12th October 2016 at 1.30pm. The children made their own invitations which were sent home last week however, just in case yours hasn’t made it’s way to you yet this is your invitation to come along and join in. You can see all the wonderful work the children have been doing on World War ll and buy some tea/coffee and cakes!
All primary 6/7 and primary 7 parents/Grandparents/Aunts/Uncles are welcome to come and join the fun.
There will be a change to the school lunch menu on Friday 14th October 2016. We will be serving hot dogs instead of Quorn Bolognese. All other menu items will remain the same.
P6 are holding a fundraising event next Friday, 14th October at 1.30 p.m. in the school hall. The reason we are doing this is that we want to adopt a whale. We have learned so much about the threats to whales and the risk of them becoming extinct and really want to help. We are baking biscuits for the cause, you should have received an order form by now. Please bring the order form back with the money to make sure you get your biscuits on the 14th October.
We would love for you to come to our fundraiser where we will have raffles and stand up bingo. We will also perform a song for you. This experience is not to be missed!! You could really help to save the lives of endangered whales.
Remember it’s a non-uniform day that day at a cost of £1 and some of the money will also be donated to school funds. Any parent who has more than 2 children at the school should pay no more than £2.
Last week’s visit to Whitelees by Ian and his Mobile Military Museum had an extra edge as our pupils were filmed to appear on Forces TV!
Army veteran Ian Inglis has taken an interest in the World Wars and forces memorabilia and turned it into an educational experience for our P6 & 7 pupils to enjoy as part of their WWII studies.
We are delighted by the news in today that Whitelees are in second place in Scotland’s Walk of Fame, celebrating walk to school month across the whole of Scotland!
We have been logging our active journeys to school every day throughout the month and have made it onto the Leader board!
A big thank you to everyone involved. Let’s keep going for first place!!
