Primary 1 and Primary 2/1 had a very entertaining afternoon when Cumbernauld Fire Brigade came to St Michael’s. The children were able to go inside the fire engine and had great fun playing with the hose! What an exciting afternoon learning about People Who Help Us.

Voting Day in Primary 6
Recently, we had a special visitor from the Scottish Parliament. She came to teach us about the work of the Scottish Parliament, the role of MSP’s, voting and how it works.
We were put into six groups; Animal Welfare, IT, Music , Save the Earth, Sport and School which became our ‘Political Parties’. We held a mini Election. First we had to elect a Party Leader, then we had to decide what was important to us and finally we had to present our party promises to the class. We listened to what each party had to offer and voted on who we would like to win. After all the votes were counted, the Animal Welfare Party won the election.
It was an exciting day for all of us. We found out things we did not know or had never thought of!

PE and Health
The children in the school have been preparing themselves for Sports Day during their PE time through various athletics activities. They are really enjoying practising these skills.
The children are also learning about ways to keep their bodies healthy.
First Holy Communion
Primary 4 are currently preparing for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion and on Monday we attended a retreat. The children were given the opportunity to meditate and reflect on their spiritual journey so far.
Primary 6/5’s Manifestos
Today Primary 6/5 worked in groups to look at the different manifestos of the main Scottish political parties, and chose issues that they felt were the most important to the people of Scotland. They then went on to report them back to the rest of the class.
Primary 2/1
Primary 2/1 are enjoying learning about People Who Help Us. We are focusing on the Fire Brigade and are looking forward to a school visit from the Fire Service next week.
Primary 3
Primary 3 are busy preparing for their assembly this Friday. They have created power points all about our Fairness value.
