St Michael’s Feast Day
St. Michael’s Feast Day Mass
We are delighted that this year we will celebrate St. Michael’s Feast Day Mass at Carfin Grotto on 27th September. This is to coincide with the Anniversary of 100 years of Catholic Education.
We will depart from school at approximately 10am, this will allow time for the children to enjoy the grounds at Carfin for Holy Mass and for all to enjoy a picnic lunch.
We are sure this will be a great celebration and we are grateful to Father Michael for his organisation.
Please provide your child with a packed lunch on this day unless your child is in P1-3 or in P4-7 and receives a free school meal.
School Photographs
School Photographs
The photographers will be in the school on Monday 8th October 2018.
All children in School and Nursery will have individual photographs taken this year.
You may request a family portrait to be taken, however, this will only be done if you select the option below. If you do not select this option by Friday 5th October then we will assume that you do not require a family photograph to be taken.
If you have a child who does not attend St. Michael’s School or Nursery you may bring them into the school between 8.30 a.m. and 9 a.m. to have a family picture taken before the older children begin their school day. Children who attend the nursery in the afternoon will also have an opportunity to have their photographs taken from 1 p.m.
Children wearing glasses are asked to move them further down their nose than normal to prevent the flash showing in the photograph. Should you decide that you would prefer them to remove their glasses please tell your child to do so on the day.
Yours sincerely
Mrs. Karen Greechan

Celebrating Success
Leading the Learning
Primary 2/1 children are enjoying leading the learning.
Mapping
Primary 6a have been researching St Michael the Archangel in preparation for their assembly to celebrate our feast day. They have also been developing their geography skills looking at the map of the UK and it’s place in Europe.
Maths Week
Our nursery children have been using ‘The Number Box’ to kick off Maths Week.
As part of maths week, Primary 5 has been adopting a positive maths mindset. We found 9 different ways of visualising this pattern of dots showing that we all learn in different ways.
Primary 5 also completed their maths activities outdoors and using different technology.
Numbers to 20
Primary 2 are enjoying learning all about numbers to 20.
Sumdog Challenges
Primary 6b are enjoying challenging each other using the Sumdog programme.
Choral Reading
Primary 4 are reading in their choral reading groups. Choral reading helps build self confidence, motivation and fluency.
