Please be reminded that school is closed for the October break. Well done to all our children for their hard work, enthusiasm and achievements throughout Term 1. We are very proud of you!

We wish all our families a lovely, well-deserved break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 2 on Monday 19th October.

Well done to our netball team, who attended the Netball Festival on Thursday! They won three games, drew three and lost just one, showing fantastic teamwork, determination and commitment throughout. You did St Lucy’s proud!

A special thank you to Miss Leddy for giving her time to run the club and providing opportunities for our children to take part in events like this.

A huge well done to Primary 7, the winners of our St Lucy’s Fairtrade Bake Off! With so many delicious entries, our judges had a very difficult decision to make, but Primary 7 took home the trophy for the tastiest treat!

Thank you to everyone who took part and to our judges for choosing the winner. Congratulations, Primary 7.

Our Primary 7 pupils have been busy campaigning for the roles of House Captain, sharing their ideas and explaining why they would make great leaders for their houses. Well done to everyone who took part for showing enthusiasm, confidence and commitment!

Children and staff have now cast their votes, and the successful candidates will be announced after the October Week. Keep an eye on the House Captains tab on our website, which will be updated to introduce our newly selected captains.

Thank you to all our parents and carers who attended Parents’ Evening. It was lovely to welcome you into school, celebrate your children’s achievements and discuss their progress. We appreciate your continued support and the strong partnership between home and school.

A special thank you to our wonderful Primary 7 helpers, who welcomed families and helped the evening run smoothly. You represented our school brilliantly, showing kindness, responsibility and confidence. Well done!

Our school was delighted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of St Lucy’s Church by creating a human chain from the school to the church. This special moment showed the strong connection between our school and parish, bringing everyone together in a wonderful celebration of faith and community.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this occasion so memorable. Photographs will be displayed at the back of the church for the celebratory Mass, capturing this lovely moment in our shared history.

All children who will be 3 years of age before 1 March 2028 are entitled to 1140 hours statutory funding place during session August 2027-2028.

The funding eligibility dates for 2027-2028 are: –

• Children who reach three years of age between 1 March 2027 and 31 August 2027 can take up their ELC placement from August 2027.
• Children reaching three years of age between 1 September 2027 and 31 December 2027 can take up their ELC placement from January 2028.
• Children reaching three years of age between 1 January 2028 and last day of February 2028 can take up their ELC from April 2028

The council is now accepting applications for children who will be eligible for nursery in session 2027/2028. Applications should be completed and submitted to your first-choice council nursery establishment or partner provider/childminder that are in a framework agreement with the council no later than Friday 27 November 2026.
