Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 to 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education.  A well structured programme of primary/secondary liaison with Our Lady’s High School assists with the transition from P7 to S1 and ensures our children embrace the challenges of high school with confidence.

In preparation for the transition, members of staff from OLHS make regular visits to our Primary 7 classroom focusing on Literacy & English and Numeracy & Mathematics.  In addition parents are invited to attend Information Sessions.

The Primary 7 teacher and support staff from OLHS meet to hand over information and to ensure consistency in approach. This handover of information will consist of both professional dialogue and samples of childrens’ work.

The Primary 7 children will also be involved in a transition “theme”.  The theme is introduced to the Primary 7 pupils in May and the children will then participate in related activities during their visits to Our Lady’s High School in June.

Transfer from Primary LCSC to Secondary School

Pupils from our Language and Communication Support Centre will transfer to Secondary in accordance with their individual needs. The process is in partnership with parents and begins at Primary 6 stage.
