What is the Parent Council and can I become a member?

All Parents/Carers are part of the Parent Form.  The Parent Council is open to all Parents and Carers (the Parent Forum) who have children attending St. John Paul II Primary School.  Anyone can join the Parent Council, however there are a set number of ‘office bearers’ allowed.  This means…

  • You can be an office bearer (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer or one of the Parent Members.)  All of these roles are agreed through the Constitution (see below).
  • You can attend as a member of the Parent Form but you would not have the ability to vote on agenda items.  You can still contribute to discussions and offer support for events.

There are different ways to be involved in the Parent Council:

  • Attend the meetings throughout the year.  There are 4 in total!
  • Offer to support some or all of the various events throughout the year (Discos, Movie Nights, Bag Packing, Fundraising)
  • It is recognised that not everyone can commit to everything, therefore, you only need to do what you can!
