Religious & Moral Education

Religious and moral education includes learning about Christianity and other world religions, and supports the development of beliefs and values. Scotland is now a nation which reflects a wide range of beliefs, values and traditions.

We at St. John Paul II Primary School are a community whose daily work is based on Gospel Values. By living the message of the Gospel in our words and actions, we demonstrate tolerance and repect for all members of our school and the wider community.

The RME element of Curriculum for Excellence is implemented through the use of a new national resource, This is Our Faith, which has been produced by Motherwell Diocese.

We have two excellent chaplains in Father Bogan and Father Morris, and close links to both St. Columba’s and St Gabriel’s parishes.

As St. John Paul II Primary is a Roman Catholic School, part of our work in Religious Education involves preparation for the following Sacraments:

  • First Reconciliation at Primary 3
  • First Holy Communion at Primary 4
  • Confirmation at Primary 6/7
