Again, we can see from the photographs above that St Bartholomew’s is full of talent…well done girls, from all of your friends at St Bart’s!

All Saints mass on Friday was lovely, especially as we gathered as a Parish community. A huge thank you to our parent helpers for walking with our boys and girls to the Church, it is much appreciated.

The week ahead has a focus on Developing the Young Workforce;

On Monday, Mrs Bolland and Mrs McLean will conduct pupil progress meetings today in order to keep up to date with individual pupils’ progress. We look forward to finding out how well our boys and girls are doing. Mrs MacIntyre will be attending a literacy coach meeting at Noble Primary in order to keep abreast of current initiatives. It’s the Developing the Young Workforce,  DYW, launch assembly and our Primary 5 pupils will be big contributors to this by way of introducing their experiences at Sky Academy, last month. Clare from the NHS dental team will pay us a visit today so that our pupils’ oral health is kept in good shape.

On Tuesday,our Primary 5 pupils take part in the Scottish Inventors Challenge.Representatives from the animal charity,  Dogs Trust, will visit a number of our pupils in order to provide an insight into the work within this industry. They will work with P3, P4 and P6a.Our  Primary 7 pupils will visit  the University West of Scotland. We are very lucky that Mrs McLean has forged such good relationships within this organisation and can provide our pupils with such a wonderful experience of University life.

On Wednesday, P6a will visit Terex, who are a heavy plant company in Coatbridge. It’s great to be able to provide the children with experiences of local businesses. Our P4 pupils will visit West Tarbrax Farm, near Shotts and will allow the children to experience the workings of a dairy farm- how exciting! Mrs Bolland and Mrs McLean will be visiting Noble Primary for a  numeracy meeting and  Clare Brogan from Strathclyde University will visit P1/2.

On Thursday, Hoots Owls will be  visiting Primary1-3. This company have been visiting our boys and girls for a few years now, as part of DYW, and the children always talk about their wonderful experiences for quite some time afterwards. We are all looking forward to welcoming the magnificent owls and of course, their handlers.Primary 6 will take part in the Scottish Inventors Challenge. Dr Ross Fairgrieve will  visit P7, this will allow for our senior pupils to gain an insight into the world of work in medicine. Thank you Dr Ross, you are most welcome.  Sally Wilkinson will be working with Primary 5 so that their musical talents improve. Thank you Sally.

On Friday, its the P4-7 Careers Fair! This is a fabulous opportunity for our pupils to find out about various careers in law, Police Scotland and many others. Thank you to all of the companies who have donated their time and efforts for the benefit of our pupils. This is very much appreciated. One of our Partner agencies, NHS Physiotherapy, will be visiting P1. Finally, we will host a Whole school DYW assembly as a very fitting end to this fabulous week of experiences and opportunities. We look forward to hearing about our pupils’ highlights!
