St Bartholomews

Message from the Head Teacher

We extend a heartfelt and warm welcome to everyone in our school community and of course include our pupils, parents, carers and St Bartholomew’s Parish Community! St Bartholomew’s website aims to provide you with all the relevant and appropriate information that you could possibly require. Please be rest assure that if there is something that does not answer your question or satisfy your curiosity, please phone our wonderful clerical staff who will be more than happy to help.

You may have noticed that our mission statement contains the following:

St Bartholomew’s Primary School endeavours to build a stimulating, caring learning community, based on Gospel values, in which all pupils and staff have the opportunity to develop and reach their full potential. We are fully committed to working in partnership with parents, carers, clergy and the wider community to ensure St Bartholomew’s provides the highest quality of education across all curricular areas, with the needs of the whole child – spiritual, physical, academic, emotional and social – being recognised, nurtured and developed.

Please read our aims within the ‘About our school’ section for a more details breakdown of this mission statement in practical terms.

At St Bartholomew’s we are extremely proud of our wonderful atmosphere as you enter our front doors. Visitors to our school continually comment upon the lovely welcome that they receive upon entry to St Bartholomew’s Primary. The exemplary behaviour and lovely manners from our pupils is also positively referenced by all of our visitors and new members of staff. All staff within the St Bartholomew’s family are extremely proud of all the efforts that our pupils make and consistently support them with fulfilling their potential through high expectations and standards. Subsequently, our pupils develop into successful learner, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens. Their many achievements are celebrated at Assembly every Friday and appropriate awards given to a ‘Pupil of the Week’ from each class for consistent hard work and effort,  ‘Cool Class’ award given to a class who have demonstrated the most enthusiasm and positive attitude towards learning in addition to ‘Sumdog’ competition winners. Moreover, children receive various awards and certificates from their hard working class teachers.

We are very fortunate in St Bartholomew’s to have so many dedicated and hardworking teachers and support staff in our school.  This combined depth of knowledge and skills allows us to offer a wide range of learning experiences to all of our pupils, both during and after school.

The school is also very lucky to have a wonderful Parent Council who work hard to organise events such as the Primary 7 leaver’s party, Halloween disco and Valentine disco, in addition to various Christmas fundraising events such as our now infamous, Christmas Fayre. We also have a number of people who are happy to support our school community, either through the parish or through business connections as a result of our fantastic work with ‘Developing the Young Workforce’ week where we organise a wide range of exciting opportunities with local businesses, those further afield and further education experiences for our pupils to develop skills for the world of work and beyond.

Please enjoy navigating through our website and blog area and do not hesitate to provide us with feedback and support where you can. We are always looking for volunteers of some description! We look forward to welcoming you.

Kind regards,

Deirdre Bolland

Head Teacher
