The role of the Eco Group is to make St Bartholomew’s a clean, beautiful place to learn and to encourage and support our whole school community to protect and care for the environment.

Developing the school garden area involving the whole school community in its maintenance

Feedback from Eco Group Meeting            October  2019

Bic pens

Children will recycle Bic Pens. Box in Ms Kirkland’s class to be organised by Andrew.

Recycling bins

Thinking of ways to make these more noticeable and better used.

Garden Area

Rota for litter picking and garden to be made up. Andrew and Shay will do this. Rotate weekly. Children to be picked from Eco group. Mrs McLean has ordered equipment for the garden. Andrew will ask Mr Canon if he can help in any way with the garden.

Fund Raising

Trash fashion show suggested as a further way to raise money. Group will work on this.

Garden Area

Group will maintain an area in the garden and plant vegetables. Group will make up a rota to make sure that this happens and that the garden remains tidy and litter free. Children will be asked to give up lunchtimes now and again to look after garden. Andrew and Shay will take the wee ones into the garden and supervise so that all children are involved.

Bin at football

Andrew and Shay will speak to Mr Lynch and investigate possibility of adding a bin.

Swap Shop 

Fair trade fruit. There will be costs associated with this so the group will explore further at the next meeting.

Recycling crisp packets

Walkers run a campaign to support the recycling of crisp packets – group to explore at next meeting.
