Humph the Camel!
Over the past couple of months, our P1-P3 children and teachers have been working round the clock to prepare a wonderful Christmas show – Humph the Camel! Having performed a dress-rehearsal for school pupils yesterday, our little stars took to the stage to put on a fantastic showcase of acting, singing and dancing for parents and friends this morning.
The show was a huge success and our children and staff are looking forward to taking to the stage again at 6.30pm tonight for their evening performance! The morning performance was wonderful, and we are so proud of our Rochsolloch family today.
Our show has been filmed this year, and DVDs can be purchased from the school, at a cost of £5. DVDs will be ready in early January.
Our resident photographer, Mrs Cochrane, has taken these terrific snaps!
Kilbowie Mega-Gallery!
This week, our P7 pupils have been having an amazing time at Kilbowie Outdoor Centre in Oban.
Undeterred by the winter weather, the children have been taking part in canoeing, gorge walking, coasteering, forest orienteering, rock climbing, safari, and skiing!
Visiting Kilbowie is always an incredible experience, with many of our pupils taking a huge step forward in their ability to take responsibility for their personal organisation and safety over the course of the week.
Take a look at the mega-gallery below for a snapshot of the fun and learning!
Christmas Lunch!
We got together with the children from All Saints as a campus family today to enjoy a spot of Christmas lunch!
The pupils had the choice of traditional turkey or steak pie, with some delicious sprouts, carrots, potato croquettes and sausages! The children followed that up with some equally delicious ice cream, chocolate cake or trifle!
There was a real party atmosphere in the room with beautifully decorated tables and Christmas music playing through the dinner hall!
We would like to say a huge thank you to our fabulous catering staff, P7 helpers and staff from both schools who helped to make this a memorable festive experience for our children!
P7 Cross Country Running
Our P7 Inverlochy class have really been enjoying getting out into the fresh air for some cross-country running.
The pupils are gradually building up their stamina, week by week, and seeing just how long they can keep going for!
They are really excited about taking their learning outside of the school grounds and over to Brownsburn Park in the weeks to come!
Check out this gallery of photos taken by our pupils during today’s lesson:
Developing the Young Workforce
In preparation for life and our Careers Event on 23rd November, P7 & P6/7 have been taking a deeper look at potential careers and career paths. They are developing their understanding of how skills that they learn across the curriculum are then transferred into the workplace. A key resource to support their skills/qualities and careers has been www.myworldofwork/ican .
We are very much looking forward to our Careers Day on the 23rd!
P2/3 Out and About
P2/3 made the most of the beautiful autumn weather today by taking a trip to Brownsburn Local Nature Reserve as part of their Katy Morag topic.
Many of our classes will be visiting the park in the coming weeks – the beginning of autumn is such a great time to get into the outdoor environment as there is just so much to see!
Hallowe’en Disco
We all had an absolute blast at last night’s Hallowe’en Disco, organised by our wonderful Parent Council!
Check out the spooky snaps below to see a fraction of the fiendish fun!
Hope: An Anti-bullying Production
This morning, P4-P7 pupils joined our friends from All Saints Primary in the gym hall to watch a fabulous show: Hope: An Anti-Bullying Production.
Our children watched on as the performers presented a story with a clear and important message about bullying. At Rochsolloch Primary School, we always encourage our pupils to be mindful of the feelings of others, and to share any problems they experience with trusted adults in the school.
Following the production, the Take-away Theatre Company members ran workshops with our pupils to further explore and reinforce the anti-bullying message!
Take a look at the photos below to see the performers in action!
Congratulations Captains!
Congratulations to our new Captains, who have been chosen following a tough process of application and interview!

We know you’ll do us proud!
Osiligi Maasai Warriors
Last year, Miss Rangeley and P5/6 studied Africa. The pupils wanted to know more about African tribal culture so Miss Rangeley and Mrs McCulloch organised a surprise visit for this session…
All of the pupils from the school and nursery were treated to an absolutely amazing performance of singing and dancing this afternoon, courteset of the Osiligi Maasai Warriors, who had travelled all the way from Kenya!
The children learned about the Massai way of life, and about the meanings of the different, amazing songs they performed.
Check out our Twitter feed for a short video clip of the men from the tribe showing us how they used to hunt lions!
This truly was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our children. What an afternoon!
End of Term Celebration 2017
We sent our Class of 2017 off in style this morning with a marvellous musical assembly!
Congratulations to all of the children and staff involved – it was one of our best shows ever! Our children really are starting to look at home on that stage!

SmartSTEM at Strathclyde Univeristy
P6 and P7 girls had the unique experience of attending a SmartSTEM event at Strathclyde University. SmartSTEM provide equity of opportunity to young people into STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) with particular focus on the gender gap. The girls experienced Plastic Cup Challenge, workshop based around product design, manufacture and teamwork, LED workshop and Social Media Content Creation workshop. SmartSTEM interviewed those attending and this can be viewed in August on SmartSTEM TV. Hopefully this event will inspired our pupils to go forward to select one of the STEM professions for their future careers.
Nursery Sports 2017
On Thursday last week, we held our annual nursery class sports day!
Take a look at the gallery to see our little athletes running, jumping and throwing – and generally having a great time!
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Mr Griffin and our P6 pupils for helping our wonderful nursery staff organise such a great day for the children. We’d also like to give a special mention to our superhero family members for being such good sports in the adult race!
Recently, P4/5 and P3/4 got together for a terrific educational excursion to the Five Sisters Zoo. The children were amazed to learn that many of the animals at the zoo have been rescued from performing in circuses.
Have a peek at our gallery to see the children enjoying seeing the animals, learning about minibeast identification, and enjoying a post-lunch play at the swing park!
Summer Disco!
Last night, our pupils came out in their shorts and shades to enjoy the Parent Council Summer Disco!
The weather didn’t let us down, and neither did the entertainment! Our children enjoyed dancing, taking part in the limbo, having their faces painted and getting a silly snap at the photo booth – check out the gallery below!
We would like to say a huge thanks to our Parent Council and all of our parent helpers who came along last night. Many of our children told us today that this was the best disco ever!
