P3/4 and P4/5 Visit Five Sisters Zoo

Recently, P4/5 and P3/4 got together for a terrific educational excursion to the Five Sisters Zoo. The children were amazed to learn that many of the animals at the zoo have been rescued from performing in circuses.

Have a peek at our gallery to see the children enjoying seeing the animals, learning about minibeast identification, and enjoying a post-lunch play at the swing park!

P4/5 Vikings Assembly

Our pupils and guests had a real treat at school this morning, as P4/5 and Mrs Rodman presented an incredible assembly, all about Vikings!

During the assembly the pupils shared a huge amount of knowledge and displayed wonderful skills, including:

  • Several short drama pieces
  • Clear speaking and excellent presentation skills
  • Magnificent, tuneful singing
  • Bread making demonstration
  • News report

All while really looking the part in some amazing costumes!

We would like to say a huge congratulations to P4/5 and Mr Rodman – we think it was one of the best assemblies we have ever had at Rochsolloch!

Thank you so much to our audience, parents and guests who came along – for your lovely comments and for supporting the children with their terrific costumes and super homework projects.

World of Work

P4/5 learned about the world of work today, when they were visited by Mrs McDonald, also known as Sophie’s Mum!

Mrs McDonald told the class all about what skills and qualities a person needs to be a good police officer. The children also learned about the different departments within the police service and about what the day to day job is like.

Finally the pupils were given a demonstration of some important police equipment before an arrest was made!

Thank you so much for visiting us Mrs McDonald, we really learned a lot!

Fun-d Raising!

Primary 4/5 showed an enterprising approach when they invited the whole school to their fund-raising Fun Day yesterday.

The pupils had organised a variety of different fun 10p activities for pupils to participate in, such as:

  • Pin the Tail on the Donkey
  • ‘Pie Face’
  • Artists Corner
  • Tombola
  • Balloon Animals
  • Guess the Bear’s Birthday
  • Beat the Goalie
  • Knock ’em Down

The children managed to raise a fantastic £140 for The Beatson Cancer Care charity.

It is events like this that make us so proud of our young people.  Well done P4/5…what a great way to round of a successful year!

Assembly with a Twist!

Following their recent topic about ‘Scientists and Inventors,’ P4/5 and Miss Allan decided to host an Assembly with a twist!  Parents and guests were invited along to take part in a terrific interactive Science and Technology exhibition, where the scientists and inventors of the future showcased their recent learning.

The pupils interacted confidently with their guests, and were able to explain and demonstrate a whole selection of wonders, much to the delight of their visitors!

This was a marvellous Assembly P4/5 and a great way to show off how hard you’ve been working!

World Book Day

We always enjoy celebrating World Book Day at Rochsolloch Primary School.  This year, our pupils were given the chance to rotate round three activities, with three different teachers over the course of the day.  The pupils were involved in a host of different book themed activities where they were challenged to read, write, talk, listen, make and do.  The gallery shows some of our P4-7 pupils working with Mr Flanigan.  The children used Roald Dahl’s ‘The Witches’ as their inspiration as they tried to become witch experts.  the experts were then interviewed for the evening news!
