Saturday Portfolio Workshop in Art

The Saturday Workshop was a hugely productive day for S5/6 pupils who worked on a range of visual art processes including relief printing using lino and wood, painting portraits, still life and landscape scenes for their SQA portfolio.

The class enjoyed pizza at lunchtime kindly delivered by one of our parents!

Top Of The Bench Competition

On Thursday 26 November our ‘Top of the Bench’ team entered the regional heats of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s competition.

This took place at the University of Glasgow and consisted of an interactive quiz between all the competing schools.

Our team consisted of Matthew Jaffray (S3), Alexander Moffat (S3), Anna O’Reilly (S2) and Alannah Thomas (S4).

S3 Outward Bound

24 S3 pupils participated in an outdoor learning programme at Loch Eil Education Centre near Fort William.

The pupils had a great time participating in activities including gorge scrambling, canoeing and raft building while developing life skills such as resilience, problem solving and confidence.

The pupils were accompanied by Miss McGinn and Mr Fullerton and a fantastic time was had by all!

S5/6 Mock Interviews

 

Pupils in S5/6 took part in a Mock Interview on Thursday 26 November. We were delighted to welcome over 30 of our partners from business and the world of work.

The volunteers who gave up their time to work with our young people comprised of former pupils, former members of staff and representatives from the local community.

S6 helpers

A big thank you to Miss Sharkey and her group of S6 helpers who ensured the smooth running of the event.

Our young people will have gained a great deal from the experience and will hopefully have many successful interviews in the future!

Rachael Brogan MSYP

Rachael

Congratulations to Rachael Brogan (S6) who was selected to represent Central Scotland in the Youth Parliament debate held in the House of Commons on Friday 13th November. Rachael is MSYP for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth and is also a Member of the Youth Parliament (UK wide)

Rachael was selected from the 14 Scottish MYP’s and delivered a speech on ‘The Relevance of the Magna Carta today’. Her speech was broadcast live on BBC Parliament.

What a fantastic achievement for Rachael!

Caitlin loses her hair for charity!

Caitlin Currie (S5) got 22 inches cut from her hair on the 7th of November and donated it to ‘The Little Princess Trust’ which is an organisation that provides wigs for children with Cancer.

She also raised a phenomenal £694 which she donated to St. Andrew’s Hospice in memory of her Grandad.

Well done Caitlin!
