Brief summary and aims:
We aim to project Mathematics as a positive and enjoyable experience as well as an important part of the curriculum by:
  • ensuring pupils are taught the mathematical and numerical skills required for life, learning, employment and further study.
  • providing each pupil with the mathematical and numerical skills required for progression in other curriculum areas.
  • ensuring pupils understand the importance of Mathematics and the role it plays in the world around them.
  • encouraging pupils’ confidence, engagement and enjoyment in Mathematics
  • supporting every pupil to progress and achieve to the best of their ability in mathematics.
Courses / subjects delivered at all stages:

  • A small number will consolidate Second level in S1 to improve progression to Third level.
  • Pupils’ experiences are enhanced by a number of year group and whole school events including Numeracy Week, Pi Day, Numeracy Games Olympiad.
  • In S2 pupils have an additional period where they focus on Numeracy across Learning, Life and Work.
