China Trip

China Trip

The recent Social Subjects China trip was a huge success. All pupils and staff had a fabulous time and they were all exhausted on the flight back to Glasgow!

In Beijing the pupils visited many places such as the Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City as well as the Great Wall of China. They then travelled by Bullet Train to Shanghai where they shopped in Nanjing Road and had an evening cruise on the Huangpu River. A once in a lifetime experience for them all!

A group of S3 learners successfully completed a one day training course in ‘Be Strong Online’.  This event was hosted by the not-for-profit charity ‘The Diana Award’, and helped our young people to learn how to explore the digital world safely.

All of the S3 learners participated fantastically well all day and were rewarded with a certificate and the opportunity to take the programme forward in school.  Well done to Ben Atkin, Sam Bryant, Elise Congalton, Connor Coyle, Charlotte Diamond, Aedan Duffy, Charlotte Kenna, Daniel Kerr, Shannen Lofnes, Megan MacCrimmon, Josh McMullen, Gemma Templeton and Devlin Tomlinson who were an absolute credit to themselves and the school.

S6 Caritas Retreat

S6 Caritas Retreat

Fifteen of our S6 pupils undertaking their Caritas Award enjoyed a very comfortable and relaxing retreat on Monday night in the Conforti Institute, Coatbridge. They participated in reflections from Fr Patrick Duffy from the Xaverians and Fr John Campbell of Sacred Heart, Cumbernauld.

The group consisted of both Our Lady’s pupils and St Maurice’s pupils to allow opportunities to socialise and pray with others sharing the same faith journey through Caritas. All feedback has been positive and pupils have benefited from the memorable experience.

S4 SPUC Talks

S4 SPUC Talks

Over the course of this week each S4 class have enjoyed two separate talks from the Society of the Protection of the Unborn Child (SPUC), during their RE time. This coincides with the 50th Anniversary of the Abortion Act and develops their understanding of life beginning at conception, by the grace of God.

Emmet Dooly has kept them engaged and smiling as he has covered the topics of ‘Life’s Journey in the Womb’ and ‘The Human Experience’. All feedback has been positive with many pupils requesting to study this in more detail through their personal learning.
