P7 Home Learning Grid and Leavers Song

Primary 7,

Here is your latest home learning grid. This week I have not set Sumdog or spelling challenges for you as it is our Kil-stay-at-home-ie Week and we hope that you will enjoy taking part in some of those challenges instead. You will find them on a separate post.

Home learning grid: June 2020 Home learning Grid PDF

One of the tasks on the home learning grid is a transition task set by the Technical Department from Coatbridge High: P7 Transition Booklet (technical dept)

Leavers Song

I put together a leavers song for you all and recorded it with the help of my friend. I hope you like it! Take some time to have a listen and sing along with the lyrics.

It’s still not too late to join our class team, please get in touch if you are having trouble with it!

Article of the Week – Article 42

Hello boys and girls,

Did you all enjoy celebrating World Environment Day? I hope you enjoyed participating in some of the activities your teacher and I posted. Remember Microsoft Teams is a great way to show your teacher what activities you have been doing.

This weeks focus is Article 42 – knowledge of rights. This means that Governments all around the world must actively work to make sure children and adults know about the Convention of Rights. I have attached this weeks PowerPoint below:

Article of the Week – Article 42

Today is also ‘World Oceans Day’. World Oceans Day, on June 8, is all about protecting the ocean. A healthy planet needs a healthy ocean, but our waters face huge risks from overfishing, climate change, and plastic pollution. This links to Article 29 – encouraging respect for the environment.

I found a great eBook for Primary 1-3 called Starry-Eyed Stan.

Starry-eyed Stan Story

For Primary 4-7 I found a different tutorials on YouTube about how to draw different sea creatures.

I hope you enjoy this weeks focus!

Primary 5/6

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend with your families. Yesterday was another warm day! We enjoyed a lovely walk and spent some time out in the garden. Microsoft Teams is a great way for you to post pictures to show me what you have been doing.

This week you have a new Home Learning Grid, Spelling, Sumdog and activities on Newsround.

Capital Letter Spelling – Common Homophones and Confusions

Capital Letter Spelling 8.06.20

Full Stop Spelling – Phoneme ‘ee’

Full Stops Spelling 8.06.20

Commas Spelling – Phoneme ‘ee’

Commas Spelling 8.06.20

Question Mark – Phoneme ‘au’

Question Mark Spelling 8.06.20

You can also try to think of a cool spelling of your own or try spelling them out with daisies or stones or pasta.

Well done to those of you who have completed the Epic Reading. I have assigned a new book called “Platypus: A Century-long Mystery”. Have you enjoyed having a book to read? Remember you can pick different books to read too. You could maybe do a ten minute silent read like what we did in class after our lunch.

On Sumdog, I have set Probability Challenge for Maths and an Adjective Competition. Thank you for participating on the North Lanarkshire Maths Contest. I wonder where we will qualify this week!

Normally, I would make you a Microsoft Quiz but this week for a change Newsround has lots of great resources and quizzes on ‘World Oceans Day’. Today the 8th of June is ‘World Oceans Day’. This is all about protecting the ocean. A healthy planet needs a healthy ocean, but our waters face huge risks from overfishing, climate change, and plastic pollution. Here is the link for Newsround: https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/curations/world-oceans-day

These tasks will also be in Microsoft Teams. If you haven’t used Microsoft Teams yet please try your best to get logged in as you are able to message me if you need any support. It is great seeing all of your hard work and catching up with you. I will upload Summer Activities on our last week of school.

This week teachers are returning to school to get everything set up for you returning in August. I will try my best to reply to you as quickly as possible.

Hope you have a great week,

Good morning Primary 3/4 and happy Monday!

I cannot believe we only have a few short weeks left of school! I hope you all had a nice weekend. I know the weather wasn’t as good as last week but I still managed to get out my walks and I finished my 4th book since the schools closed! What did you all get up to? I would love to hear!

Home Learning Grids

Your new Home Learning grid and activities can be found below. This is the last one before the Summer break can you believe it?? This Home Learning grid has a ‘Summer’ theme to it so lots of the activities are about Summer things. As normal you will still receive weekly spelling words, Sumdog challenges and Oxford Owl books. Remember the instructions to get on to Oxford Owl and the reading activities to follow the books can be found on our class Teams page. You can still complete activities from the previous Home Learning Grids if you would like to aswell. Well done to everyone who took part in the assessment and challenge on Sumdog last week! I was at the St Ambrose Hub on Friday helping out so I did not have the chance to post the winners of these! As you know you had a Times Table and Division Assessment last week so there would be no winners for that but again you all did very well and I can tell you are still practising your times tables! The top 3 children for the Spelling Challenge last week were: Logan R, Robyn and Enya. Well done to you three 🙂

This week you have another assessment on Time. There are 20 questions so please take your time with each of these. You also have another Spelling Challenge too. Good Luck everyone 🙂

Oxford Owl

I have some new suggestions of books to read on Oxford Owl this week. Please remember to look for your group! If you find another book you would like to read on Oxford Owl that is completely fine too 🙂 The instructions for getting on to Oxford Owl and the reading activities can be found on our class Teams page!

Orange Group – Tiger x4

Primary 5/6

Good Morning boys and girls!

I cannot quite believe that we are at the end of another week of home learning. You are putting in such a great effort and making us all so proud. Give your brains a little rest and enjoy the weekend! The Sumdog house will be open for you.

Today is World Environment Day. I hope you enjoyed trying some of the recycling activities. It has been great to see your models on Microsoft Teams!

From today to Thursday the 11th of June, there is another NLC Sumdog Contest! We are great at Sumdog so lets work together to qualify on the leader board again! You simply just need to play Sumdog’s Maths games. As a reward for taking part, you will receive an item for your  Sumdog House when you answer 100 questions. It is recommended that we all work as a team and that you all should try to play for at least 20-30 minutes each day. You can also play on Saturdays and Sundays!

Good luck and have a great weekend,
