Room 12 December Learning Log

Enterprise Initiative

Pupils worked together to design their own Santa Sleighs complete with Santa and a sack full of goodies!  They worked out the materials they would need to make their sleigh,  the cost for those materials to make the sleigh and then how much they could charge in order to make a profit and raise money for charity…..

Hi Ho Hi Ho….it’s off to work we go…..

The final product!

….and ready to send to market…

The Fayre Begins….

Stall presented, well, staff on duty ………….let the shopping begin!

Advent Preparation

Advent calendar went up and children learned about the significance of Advent.  Each day they learned a little bit more of the way they could prepare for the Christmas event.  The central theme was 25 days of kindness……

Let it snow!  Let it snow!  Let it snow!

Pupils designed and redesigned their winter village scene.

Numeracy / Technology

Sum Dog Programme

It has been a good Term 2 for the pupils in Room 12.  In the two numeracy competitions that took place (both hosted on the Sumdog programme) our pupils did particularly well.

The North Lanarkshire competition had entries from the vast majority of classes in the vast majority of schools across the whole of North Lanarkshire.  Our class managed to achieve 23rd position.  This was a remarkable feat and involved pupils working during class time and at home.  Well done to all!

The UK National Maths Contest saw many classes in schools across the whole of the UK competing against one another.  Considering, pupils in  the class didn’t manage to have their allotted time for one of their Sumdog sessions, 141st is a fantastic achievement!  Again, well done to all who went above and beyond in representing the school!

HWB

Yoga…. Yoda……and Yodeling!

Primary 4 pupils joined our Primary 6 pupils in a yoga session.  Strength, core control and flexibility were the main focus of the session and, of course, ending in rest and relaxation

School Concert

Room 12 gave a fine singing and dancing routine to two Festive classics. Santa was the central theme for their two classic songs…..Here comes Santa Claus and  Santa Claus is Coming to Town…

…..and talking of Santa…….

Santa Claus is Coming to Town!…and he’s brought his helpers!

All pupils received a gift from Santa, given on behalf of the Parent Council and gratefully received by the boys and girls in Room 12!

End of Term Party

Preparations for the party started the week before it.  Room 12 pupils joined up with pupils in Room 13 to learn and rehearse their traditional country dances.  In addition  to this, the boys and girls designed and made  their own place-mats.  Below is just a small sample of  their designs.

The party mood occurred  over lunch and saw a major transformation of our boys and girls.

In  the hall….

boys enjoyed dancing to both traditional and modern dances as well as playing a few games throughout the party….best foot forward!

Time for  a snack on their personally designed placemats!

…and….back to the dance!

First-Aid anyone?

Congratulations to Eva for earning her First-Aid certificate after attending a rather challenging First-Aid course…well done mum for getting her involved!
