November – Morning Session

Welcome to the November issue of the Berryhill Nursery blog!

We have had a fantastic month in nursery.  We have been learning all about Autumn and, through this context, have been exploring and investigating pattern, enjoying the great outdoors, finding information in different ways and learning all about nocturnal animals as well as much, much more!

The children have been enjoying the ABC Music programme, exploring the instruments and playing along to different music as well as learning about rhythm and timing.

The children have been very interested in different nocturnal animals, especially hedgehogs, and have enjoyed using the iPads to find information and watch videos about these creatures.

As well as learning new vocabulary associated with nocturnal animals…

And making chocolate hedgehog cupcakes…

They have also enjoyed different art experiences such as Owl Babies inspired art and clay hedgehogs.

“A mum flies away and the babies sit on the branch together.  Mum comes back and she says ‘WHAT’S ALL THE FUSS ABOUT?'” Kacie

“Hedgehogs have five thousand spikes on their back and they sniff for food.” Karson

“The roll in a wee ball.  They sleep and hibernate in the winter.” Derry

“They curl up in a wee ball.  They look for food at dark time.” Maya

They have also been practising their nursery rhymes for our competition.

The children have also been investigating and exploring patterns in different areas of the nursery.

Through SID and SHANARRI the children have been learning all about keeping SAFE.  Please look out for our new SHANARRI wall in the cloakroom, coming soon!

“My mum and dad keep me safe when I’m at home.” Hollie

Finally, the children have enjoyed many outdoor experiences this month.  They have been playing in our own outdoor spaces but also have enjoyed a trip to Belhaven Park.

We are currently preparing for our Nursery Nativity which is on Thursday 14th November.

During December the children will be learning all about the Nativity story.
