P2/3 Reading Buddies in P6

P2/3 are practising their fluency and expression when reading aloud with their P6 reading buddy. P6 are doing a super job at helping younger pupils to use their reading strategies to read common and tricky words, as well as questioning them about their story. We look forward to our reading times with our buddies!

P2 Newlands Farm Visit

Primary 2 were very excited to visit a working dairy farm as part of their milk and farming topic.  We were given a tour by Andrew from Newlands Farm which is close by the school.  His farm has beef and dairy cows and supplies the milk to Marks and Spencer.  Pupils were very lucky as we saw 2 calves that were just born last night!  They also got to sit

P2 Parent Open Morning

Last week Primary 2 were excited to share their learning on measure and weight with their parents.  We had 4 stations set up and it was a very hands on activity for all!  Well done for getting through all your tasks estimating and comparing your results. I liked my mum coming in because she helped me do my tasks (Jaxon, & Theo). I liked it because all the parents helped

P2 Butterfly Release 🦋

After 20 days in our care, today was time for our now adult butterflies to be released into the wild!  We had 10 beautiful and healthy butterflies all of which survived the metamorphosis from caterpillar. I think our net was too comfortable for them as they didn’t want to leave!  After some coaxing they flew up and away to find some flowers to get a much needed nectar snack. 🌺🌼🌸 Well

All the caterpillars have changed into a cocoon. (Adam) During days 6 to 9 the caterpillars are going through lots of changes inside the chrysalis. We have to wait until they have hardened before moving them to a new habitat. On Friday, Miss Lalmy has removed all the silk surrounding the chrysalises and moved them into the netting in preparation for their metamorphosis into a butterfly. Primary 2 have discussed

P2 Solo Talks 👏

A huge congratulations to all the pupils in P2 as they confidently spoke for 1 minute about a famous Scot as part of their homework task.  I was blown away by your research and creativity preparing your own drawings or informative PowerPoints.  Thanks to all the people at home for supporting you in achieving this. Well done! 🙂

Surprise Visitors to P2! 🐛🐛

Primary 2 had a wonderful surprise arriving into class on Thursday.  We had 8 hungry caterpillars!  We are going to be observing the changes they go through and writing about their life cycle. It was amazing because our class got to look after caterpillars. (Penny and Harry) They are brown and furry. (Eve) I was so surprised! (Theo)
