P2 Parent Open Morning

Last week Primary 2 were excited to share their learning on measure and weight with their parents.  We had 4 stations set up and it was a very hands on activity for all!  Well done for getting through all your tasks estimating and comparing your results. Pupils in P2 were excited to make a healthy sandwich along with their parents/guardians. The ingredients for our sandwich were: wholemeal bread soft cheese spread cheddar cheese slice hommous lettuce ham Everyone really enjoyed making the sandwich and trying new foods.  The hommous was a new taste for P2 pupils and they decided they didn’t like it because of it’s texture and smell.  Well done for trying it anyway! 🙂

P6 Open Event

In Primary 6 we created a ‘character from the boots up’.  Each group chose a number and inside their bag was a pair of shoes.  The task  for each pair or trio was to decide who might own these shoes and create a mind map describing the characters: appearance, personality, fears…. After playtime each child drew their character and wrote a story using this as the main character.

March Open Morning

We had a very successful open morning today! The children in all of the classes enjoyed having their parents and grandparents learning with them, completing a wide variety of tasks from different curricular areas, including Literacy, Numeracy, IDL and H.W.B.

Parents Open Morning

Last week, we hosted parents and grandparents for our second open morning of the year. It was a very busy place and there were lots of different activities for the children to try in their classes. Some classes were learning new knowledge and skills in Literacy, some were learning in Numeracy, P7 were involved in inter-disciplinary learning  and P6 were demonstrating their artistic skills.

P2 Parents Open Morning

Pupils in P2 enjoyed having their parents and guardians in for the second time this year.  This time our learning was about 3D shape.  We built 3D shapes using lollipop sticks and marshmallows and talked about the properties of each of them.  We also sorted 2D and 3D shapes.  It was a fantastic turnout and thanks to everyone who came!

Primary 5 Technology

Here are Primary 5 enjoying their Technology Challenge at last week’s Parent Open Morning. They worked in their cooperative learning groups to assemble and trial a water wheel, a bit like the one used at New Lanark! All of the water wheels were operational by the end of the session!
