January 2021 Arrangements

All parents/ carers should have received a letter from NLC on Monday 21st December with clarification about the arrangements for January 2021. The school will open from Wednesday 6th January until Friday 8th January for children of key workers and vulnerable families where childcare support will be provided. All children return to learning on Monday 11th January 2021 when online learning will be in place at least until 18th January

P2 Parents Open Morning

Pupils in P2 were excited to make a healthy sandwich along with their parents/guardians. The ingredients for our sandwich were: wholemeal bread soft cheese spread cheddar cheese slice hommous lettuce ham Everyone really enjoyed making the sandwich and trying new foods.  The hommous was a new taste for P2 pupils and they decided they didn’t like it because of it’s texture and smell.  Well done for trying it anyway! 🙂

Robert Owen – Solo Talks in P5

P5 have been working hard at home preparing their Solo Talks on Robert Owen. The children have been presenting their work this week and we have been learning all about this interesting man in time for our class trip to New Lanark next week! Great work everyone!

P6 Open Event

In Primary 6 we created a ‘character from the boots up’.  Each group chose a number and inside their bag was a pair of shoes.  The task  for each pair or trio was to decide who might own these shoes and create a mind map describing the characters: appearance, personality, fears…. After playtime each child drew their character and wrote a story using this as the main character.

March Open Morning

We had a very successful open morning today! The children in all of the classes enjoyed having their parents and grandparents learning with them, completing a wide variety of tasks from different curricular areas, including Literacy, Numeracy, IDL and H.W.B.

Rights Respecting School Leadership Academy

Thank you very much to Mrs Millar who came in to speak to our RRS Steering Group about her amazing job. Mrs Millar works for Clic Sargent which is a charitable organisation that supports young people who have cancer. Parents Open Morning

Last week, we hosted parents and grandparents for our second open morning of the year. It was a very busy place and there were lots of different activities for the children to try in their classes. Some classes were learning new knowledge and skills in Literacy, some were learning in Numeracy, P7 were involved in inter-disciplinary learning  and P6 were demonstrating their artistic skills.

P5 3D Mosques

Well done to P5 for making fabulous 3D Mosques for their homework task. You all worked very hard with excellent results! Everyone in school really enjoyed admiring them as they passed. Thank you to all parents for your support and encouragement with this.

End of Year Awards Ceremony

Here are some highlights from our End of Year Assembly which took place on Monday. Once again, two children from each class were chosen by their class teacher to receive the Sarah Warnock Award. New awards were also introduced this year based around the four capacities of Confident Individual, Effective Contributor, Responsible Citizen and Successful Learner.
